[rquoter]Insiders say that David Stern is planning to tell NBA owners at their April Board of Governors meeting that he's good for two more seasons, and that he'll step down as commissioner then. "At one point, he had talked about doing it for one more season, but it looks now like two more," said a league source. League suits say there probably won't even be a search conducted to find a successor and that deputy commissioner Adam Silver is a lock to succeed Stern, with one source saying Stern's lieutenant has the backing of almost 90% of the owners. All he needs is a simple majority.[/rquoter]
Hopefully Stern will step down sooner than later. The sooner the better. My preference would be that if you worked for Stern then when he goes you go.... period.
ofcourse he made his mistakes, but Stern has been the best commissioner out there, why exactly do you hate him? He took things to new levels for owners and players, yes players sell, but marketability and infrastructure allows them to flourish. People who don't realize that probably have no business experience on what it takes to showcase a product. Magic johnson said it best taht stern genuinely cares for the players anwithout him the nba wouldnt be where it was
I have hopes that the next commish might be better especially after this ridiculous fines by the NBA. Link: http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...ers-kobe-bryant-fined-missing-all-star-events But I don't think it's gonna change much with Silver. Maybe even get worse.
Give me Pete Rozzel any day over Stern. Stern was good in the 80's but he is horrible now. He closes his eyes to obvious issues in the league and flat out lies about the state of officiating as if we are blind. He is a tyrant. Look how he handled the Chris Paul trade. And they are considering putting adds on the jerseys! http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-b...putting-advertisements-jerseys-202058005.html
Felt this was a necessary bump since it's Stern's last day in office. Does anyone have anything substantial to say about Adam Silver, like if he's gonna change Stern's version of the NBA? I honestly wouldn't think so. He's been the president of the entertainment side of the NBA for a while now, and it seems he's the one who endorses the no hand-check rule more than anyone else.
