Hmmm. $220 for just NFL football vs. $160 for NFL, NCAA, 40 NBA games, ESPN MLB game of the week, 40 NHL games, ESPN Radio, ESPNNews, oh and a ton of no commercial music channels, as well as, a ton of different talk radio channels. All of which are always on, and never have static. Just doesn't seem like I am the one that sunk anything. But back on topic. I don't listen to Stern so he won't make a difference to me anyway.
I've used a pal's Sirius password to listen to the stations on-line at work and was pretty impressed. Even if you don't like all the songs a station plays, they do continually play music, or entertainment or sports or whatever. As for Howard Stern's contract, I saw an interview with the executive at Sirius in charge of setting it up. He said they did research that showed Howard has a pretty loyal fanbase of about 10-12 million. Since it's $12.95 a month for Sirius, if Sirius could get just 1,000,000 new fans to sign up, it will bring in $155 million for them. I really don't care for Howard Stern at all - it just isn't interesting anymore. But, considering the $12.95 gets you access to the rest of Sirius as well, I can certainly see Howard bringing in one tenth of his current fan base at a minimum on a subscription basis.
