I don't blame either D'Antoni or Marbury -- the GM should've gotten rid of Marbury before training camp, even if it meant a lopsided buyout of that contract. You're bringing in a new coach and trying to change the image of your team from the most laughably bad one in the league, and that new coach tells you that there's one guy on the team with whom he simply can't have a working relationship. So as GM, you just IGNORE the situation? WTF?!?

Cut your financial losses and dump the guy. Get him out of the locker room and away from the other players. But to just ignore the situation and hope it gets better is insane. Until the Knicks get Curry and Marbury off their roster, they'll still have the stench of Isiah's Knicks all around them. D'Antoni and the rest of the players deserve better than that.

And anyone who thinks Marbury would improve the Rockets is a complete tool. Just look at the records of every team he's ever played for, before he joined, while he was there, and after he left. He's the opposite of Magic Johnson -- Marbury makes everyone on the team WORSE.<BR>

Unbelievable, the Wiz are bad but they almost beat the Rox yesterday. Maybe D'antoni makes good on a playoff berth for the Knicks. He had no right scoring 122 points w/o Zebo and Jamal.

if maxwell had more talent, maybe he could've gotten paid 20 mill

D"antoni shouldnt have even bothered to ask him.......it's like you're at work, and your boss knows you're one of the most talented members of a team working on a project, but he says "yea just it there and do nothing, you're not part of our plan"

and all of a sudden, one day all these people call in sick and that boss says "hey we could use you today".........would you actually be ok with that? if you had a spine you wouldnt.

What? That analogy makes no sense. If you didn't do the job, you would get fired and lose your salary...

marbury doesn't deserve a max salary.

Maxwell was definitely more talented than Marbury.
Max was one hell of a defender and he could score. Marbury has been overrated for so long, he gets his stats but his teams always lose.

Isiah and Eddy Curry both got way over paid. Thanks Isiah!

I think this is good coaching, Q Richardson sucks and he dropped 34 points.

Frank Isola of NBA TV wrote that Marbury lost all support and credibility with this latest incident. I am surprised on the # of people who think Marbury was right. Guess there may be another idiot GM out there that will sign him to a 65M deal after his current one ends.

    Leaders in minutes playeed
    1. Richard Jefferson-MIL 552
    2. Ron Artest-HOU 547
    3. John Salmons-SAC 539
    4. Amare Stoudemire-PHO 538
    5. Paul Pierce-BOS 529
    6. Stephen Jackson-GSW 521
    7. Brandon Roy-POR 515
    8. Chris Duhon-NYK 509
    9. O.J. Mayo-MEM 506
    10. Joe Johnson-ATL 505
    11. Chris Bosh-TOR 503
    12. Rashard Lewis-ORL 500
    13. Ray Allen-BOS 492
    14. Jeff Green-OKC 491
    15. LeBron James-CLE 487

Conclusion: They REALLY want Marbury & Isiah influence away from the team. Or Duhon is really good. I think Duhon is really good. Lets see what he did last year to earn his position:
    .387 FG% .348 3PT% 1.8 RB 4.0 AST 1.1 TOV 0.7 ST 5.8 PTS

Which is right at his career averages. 2 times those numbers by 2 and you have this season's average cuz he's playing twice the minutes. The Rafer plan works, people. Take care of the ball & keep those turnovers low, coach wont even call the backup in for you.

it makes plenty of sense......you're getting paid to do nothing but sit there.......if you get fired, well it's like the knicks releasing, marbury, you still get paid......the premise is your boss is a punk and shouldnt have to help him out when he finally comes calling.

marbury is the only 20 pts 9 assists a year guy for at least 3 seasons or whatever the stat is..........it's just marbury and oscar robertson and maybe one other guy i forget

his talent is not overrated........his team loses cause he's not much of a team player but as far as talent goes, he's tremendous......you're confusing what a winning player is and what a "talented" player is.

Maybe if he were on the right team where he was just allowed to be a talented role player that might turn around.

So Marbury didn't refuse to play, exactly...

That's pretty much what I figured. Do you guys not think that the Knicks would instantly suspend Marbury for insubordination at the first chance they could if he refused?

I hope he bleeds the Knicks dry. D'antoni is an ass and James Dolan is the worst owner with money in the NBA.

The Knicks need to do something about his situation....they need to move on....just buy him out already, the fans won't care.
