If I am Silas I want Harden GONE - I want to build around Wall and Boogey and whatever else you can get for an aging DIVA who can't lead for crap. DD
With all due respect, you can't even lead all your pee into the toilet. I promise you that Silas wouldn't look forward to having Wall and Cousins as his cornerstones. Just stop it all ready.
It's bizarre that if the Rockets really do want to take a run at keeping Harden, or at least convince other teams of that, that there was no communication from Silas to Harden. Especially after MDA supposedly quit because of lack of communication. Obviously Harden wants out, but I find many of the details being "reported" to be nonsensical and contradictory, so I'm trying not to form any judgment about the situation.
Letting other teams know that you're desperate to trade Harden isn't a great way to get good value back. The smart move is to try to keep him while letting teams continue to bid against each other until you get a deal you like.
the reasons Harden wants to leave are complicated, and I don’t see why him being ok with the hire and wanting out can’t be compatible. One thing that’s obvious...Houston clearly thought keeping Lucas was VITAL. The fact Harden had a workout with him, and he’s the only person in the Rockets organization that has had consistent communication with him proves this. I can see things from Hardens perspective. Les Alexander is gone. Morey is gone. MDA, the guy that reinvented him as PG that led to an MVP is gone. One of his best friends was just traded. 3 major components of last years team, Covington, Capela and Westbrook are gone. He’s probably thinking this isn’t what I signed up for...this isn’t the organization I started with. And I understand why he would be skeptical of the moves. Wall off an Achilles, Boogie off an Achilles, Wood is mostly unproven, House with the doofus move in the bubble, Gordon complaining. There’s not a great reason for him to have a positive view of anything right now. So the Rockets need to play this slow and steady. Get him back with the team. Let him meet and talk to Silas. Let him watch the team tomorrow. Maybe Wall surprises him. Maybe Wood surprises him. Once there’s something there, anything there, just continue to feed it slowly. Harden is a smart guy. I’m sure he and Silas can sit down, talk about what worked with MDA, and why Silas has a slightly different approach. If you start to see some buy-in, some move toward the potential of staying, that’s when you go big...tell him you’ve got a deal to improve the team, and ask if he’s on board. It can be done. We just have to hope he hasn’t completely shut the door.
