It isn’t just about post touches, it’s about getting KPJ to dribble less.

it isn’t about KPJ’s shots, it is about eliminating his bad shots.

Sengun/Garuba/Fernando/Jabari don’t need to post up, but they need to touch the ball and be involved so that KPJ isn’t doing the thing that kills himself and the Rockets, DRIBBLING.

(Sengun was a more efficient offensive option AS A ROOKIE, than KPJ has ever been in his entire life. That is a fact, and I suspect Jabari won’t be far behind)

The more KPJ dribbles, the worse he gets. Off the catch he is a godsend.

That’s on Silas to develop a real system with offensive sets catered to player’s strengths.

If KPJ has the ball with no play called, shot clock running down he has no choice but to create off the dribble. The only other reliable creator is Green.

Better coaching would be the solution.

I think that is what Silas is hinting at - I think he just slipped the tongue because at the end he's talking about the offball opportunities.

I agree 100%. KPJ has been a professional and is balling to the best abilities (for where he has been placed by Silas) right now.

What is he going to show him? How to be an even worse TS% guy and get one more overall assist per game? It’s a myth to believe that traditional pass first PGs are needed to win rings. Who’s the last team that had one and won it all? It’s all about pressure and bully ball nowadays.

who said anything about teaching him how to score? Green can already do that. Rubio can reach him how to read a defense and setup teammates and how to pass to corners.

Green is developing and we are starting to see Jabari's improvement already. Silas should stop wasting minutes on Matthews and give all his minutes to Josh Christopher and Tari Eason. They can take some load off Eric Gordon as well. KPJ doesn't have to do everything by himself.

I know it's only been 4 gm's, but actually they haven't. His assists are down and his turnovers are up. Already has 13 TO's with 22 assists. Less than 2:1.

Jalen's been worse. He's got a TO for every pass he's made. 10 for 10.

It's still early. They're getting use to the new guys and running new plays. But it is sloppy. Need to tighten it up and communicate better. It'll come.

Jabari's got a long way to go, but at least you can safely say he protects the ball. Only 1 TO in 4 gms. That's saying a lot for a rookie playing big minutes. A LOT!

"Find the corners" .. "Time of possession" .. "dribble less"

The bliss of opining without all the necessary context (and if it were only this easy!)

Your pg bias notwithstanding if the support players around KPJ would also elevate their game at the same time it would make everything look better to the casual fan and you wouldn't be left with disingenuous remarks about hero ball 4 games into a season and needing marginal NBA players to come tutor. You want KPJ to keep passing to guys who are clanking shots for developmental purposes and going to a well that is dry at the moment instead of going to the rim and drawing contact and getting some sort of positive return when everyone else just wants to stand around. If somehow someway you're trying to say that there needs to be a better balance between driving to the rim AND getting outside shooters going I would agree. Kevin needs to look up MORE when he's collapsed the defense. The outside shooters need to start making their shots though you cant carry starters like KJM and Sengun with their 27% and 28% 3 point shooting with this kind of offense. Its AWESOME to see Jabari making shots because it means he will be looked for more.

Green is showing flashes, but he has a long way to go as a ball handler. Right now he can create for himself quite a lot but creating for others is dicey. My hope is by the end of the season that'll greatly improve and we'll have the full on 2 combo guard system they want.

As to Christopher...I dunno, I think he'd be better off spending the season in the g league learning how to be a PG.

Sengun has the flash right now but he's a walking turnover at the moment. That said, he's young so hopefully that'll improve sooner rather than later.

No one would complain about KPJ if he had the ball with the shot clock running down and had no choice but to create of the dribble. People are complaining because our offense is just KPJ dribbling for 20 seconds until the shot clock winds down and then he forces up a bad shot or makes a bad pass.

Silas is not the GM. KPJ and Green's strengths are in isolation or off catch and shoot opportunities. Catch and shoot is difficult without a primary facilitator. While I like the talent Stone has brought in, the Rockets are not built to win right now.

I have no idea if Silas will be a good coach going forward, but I wouldn't expect any coach to have this team winning.

Can you imagine the pressure being 22 years old and being asked to beat your man, every single possession? And he has only played PG for a year.

    WOW !

I mean that is NUTS !

    • There you go again with your hyperbole BS. Who said he had to beat his man on every single possession?
    • New contract means new expectations. He is getting paid $15.8M to be a PG so he damn well better start showing signs of actually being one.

What will even change even if Rockets drafts Wemby??? without a real POINT GUARD, Silas+KPJ+Wemby= still a disaster. Incompetent duo

Not hyperbole at all, that is the offense we are running, I don't like it either, would love to see motion, ball movement, body movement, but we have 1 guy responsible every single possession just about trying to beat his man and drive and dish.

It is nuts the pressure that brings.....

And he is being paid to do exactly what he is doing, this is what Silas and the org want him to do no matter how many times you and others whine about PG this or PG that, doesn't matter, he is a SG who initiates the offense.....and he is doing what the org wants......so you can spend all year b****ing, moaning, whining about how it should be a traditional PG, or whatever, but it won't change, this is EXACTLY what the Rockets want him to do.....now he can get better, but he is playing that position and probably for the next 4 years - so that is a long time to hate watching your favorite team, but you be you!

Doesnt seem to be much pressure since he can get to the rim at will against almost any defender and defense. 2nd best in the NBA at drawing fouls from iso concepts (4 game stats yay!) I think he's doing great and if he would just keep the Kyrie dribbling antics to a minimum his game would be more palatable. Once he starts to make those gimme shots near the rim and can count on his shooters to make shots when he's sucked in the defender the team will thrive.
