No, not at all. The only thing these 2 flicks have in common is that they are a similar weather effect. Go see this movie. Spot on with the source material, but with a new punch you in the heart ending. Also, fans of The Dark Tower series will see a nice little homage to it in the movies first five minutes...
I have never read the 'novella', and movie adaptations of King's works have a dismal track record. I can't stand him anyway, but the reviews this movie have been getting had me intrigued. However, refusing to be a sucker, and having heard about this 'ending', I looked a bit, and found out what it was, and am now extremely thankful I will not let the makers of this movie force me to watch such a mean and dirty thing. Not my cup of tea. But for anyone who loves paying people to spit in their faces, then this is the movie for you.
Where can you find this "surprising ending" spoiler?" Is this movie just as disappointing and deceivingly-advertised as The Village?
Without actually watching the end develop you cannot get a sense of why he went in that direction. It was very disturbing but made absolute sense given the circumstances that lead to it.
I don't necessarily think an ending has to be 'happy' for a movie to be good. Particularly if it is built up throughout the course of a movie.
shouldn't really expect anything but creepy ending with a Stephen King movie/book. What do ya'll think is the scariest book he's written or i guess movie
"IT" was the first book where I was actually creeped out when I read it. I was scared to go into my kitchen and get a drink after I read about Stanley's head appearing in the ice box... Pet Sematery was jacked up, too.
I've never read the book, but as I understand it, it ends with the word hope. Well, the movie has a different ending and it will just wreck you after everything they've gone through. I'm kind of torn because in a way it goes against what the characters at the end there had been doing through out the whole movie, but it just so powerful. It was also surprisingly funny.
Sorry, but there's nothing scary about a "mist." At worst, it's mildly annoying. "Dang, I can't see, I have to turn on my foglights." There, you're done.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess... What I am finding funny is the people that are really upset about the ending not being happy. Did they really expect a Disney ending for a Stephen King flick?
meh. just got back from seeing it tonight. wished i had seen beowulf or hitman instead. just an ok movie...hated the ending. it's not that it wasn't a happy ending--it was probably the cruelest and meanest ending i've seen in a movie. not my cup of tea at all. different strokes i suppose.
You can find the ending here. Just click this link: Warning do not click this link if you don't want to be majorly spoiled. Mist Ending Spoilers
I agree that Mist wasn't scary (it was intense at some parts), but then again, some people considered Sixth Sense scary.... After sitting through it for 2 hours, it takes an emotional toll on you. Spoiler There were people clapping when they killed that b****. Really nice foil to show who were the real monsters in the movie. Yeah, I liked how the only one spared from the store was the lady no one helped. "I hope you all rot in hell." This movie felt like 30 Days Later. Is it just me or does it feel like apocolypse invasion/zombie movies are getting oversaturated? I am Legend and Cloverfield are coming up. Gotta love Hollywood's overzealous use of the shaky cam, which either ruins or covers for the nice special fx they've invested.
Having seen No Country For Old Men I'm reluctant to see any more movies this years. You can't top perfection. (Although I Am Legend will likely cause me to change my mind.)
