You could do "Jackson" for Howard straight up but not Jones. Howard's contract doesnt match and the Pacers would only take on Howard's contract if they could dump Jackson's.

I would much rather have Mike James + Fred Jones than not Mike James and trading Howard for Jackson.

Jackson is really good but also probably the dumbest player in the entire league and one of the most volatile. I'm not saying we shouldn't target him though as the Spurs were able to win a title with that "dumbness" and this team could definitely use some volatility. When he was a free agent a couple of years ago, I heavily opposed chashing him, but I have been shocked at how much his game has grown over the last few years. He is a bonafide starting NBA guard. Someone made a post in another thread that he is a poor defender, but on the contrary I think he is one of the best defensive 2's in the league. If we got him for Juwon, I would be ecstatic.

There's only one ball in basketball. This would never work.

Not exactly true. Born in Houston. Raised and lived his thug-life in the PAT.

Woops, I meant to say Jackson not Jones ...typo.

I dunno. The way everybody talks around here anything we can do to dump Howard is ok by them. Honestly, I haven't followed Jackson recently. If he came here, would he be our starting SG?

Stephen Jackson would be a great fit IMO. But what do we have to offer the Pacers? Looking at his contract, the only players outside of TMac/Yao that have similar contracts are Juwan and Rafer, and I don't see them wanting Juwan.

I am not so sure on him I mean he can look real good in some games and look real bad in others. He's a chucker that goes a bit to much one on one. But I agree when open he is pretty deadly. I hate J. Howard as much as the next guy but if we trade him for Jackson who is our power forward. Battier and Hayes? Not too mention he has got an attitude problem and shoots a low percentage. If we can get him for cheap I wouldn't mind having him off the bench.

Howard for SJax is not much different than Howard for Miles for all of you Miles haters. If you don't want Miles for Howard then you shouldn't want SJax for Howard either. They've got the same scizo personality and everbody already knows what kind of junk SJax is involved in. It is the same risk bringing SJax in here as it is Miles, that's my point.

Of course, I'd take either risk in a heartbeat if it meant moving Howard. We can then throw the MLE at Jeffries. A PF combo of Jeffries, Battier, and Hayes is much improved and will be much more productive than Juwan, Stro, and Hayes. And if we had SJax, we'd have PLENTY of shooting in combination with TMac, Battier, Mike James, and Steve Novak. If we can't get Jeffries, I'd be fine with picking up leftovers at the PF spot for this year at least. We are still going to be better at the PF spot with Battier, Hayes, and street trash playing than Howard, Stro, and Hayes. If we need a banger for 6 fouls, we can always pick up Fartson after Seattle cuts him loose or one of the older big men that should be on the market for the minimum. Or we could turn around and trade Luther for an established middle of the road 4 to get us by. I just don't think in the bigger scheme of things that we need to pay big dollars for a power forward next to Yao. MLE at the very most. We want to make sure we are loaded up with rifles and SJax would definitely help us there.

This might throw a moneywrench in things:

    http://journaltimes.com/nucleus/index.php?blogid=24

"The Indiana Pacers are another team that's had more than a passing interest in acquiring Magloire. The Pacers need a big man and have a slew of swingmen that intrigue the Bucks. Swingmen Danny Granger, Stephen Jackson and rookie Shawne Williams are currently on the Pacers' roster and Marquis Daniels will be shortly."

I think there are only 2 people on this board who think a Jhoward for Dmiles is a decent trade! Atleast that is a start.

At PF we have to make do with some make shift arrangements.

SJax (more or less) = Spree. An attitude good for the Rox. Depending on how next two weeks unfold for Pacers (and maybe the Rox?) he is a possibility (for Howard), a deal I'd applaud.

Having been a die-hard Rockets fan living in San Antonio for some time and having watched Stepen Jackson while he was here and even following his career since he left, I have thought for some time that he would bring a needed element to the Rockets, hard nose that extra something and alot of upside. I think he has matured through some of his moments of exercising bad judgment like the Brawl and I know for a fact the Spurs lacked the extra something he brought and Popp regretted losing him when he did. In short, I would love for this to happen and would do it in a heartbeat. The Rockets have to retool..they must retool and Jackson would go a long way in making us what we need to be...

Howard and a good draft pick could get them to do it. With Jackson and James we would be set for a good run.................

I'm glad that you said Jackson and James, and not Jackson, James, McGrady, Yao, and Battier. If Stephen Jackson and Mike James were on the court together, no one else would touch the ball. A team can stand one ballhog. More than that and it's MSG South.

Stephen Jackson and Darius Miles are not even close to being the same player, other than I guess both are athletic.

Jackson is a scorer with a decent 3-pt shot (I think he'd be a sure upgrade over Wesley as long as he controls his shot amount). Miles is an athletic freak that has the potential to be a great defender, good rebounder, and a slasher. Not a shooter.

He does have his issues but he's always seemed like a pretty good team player to me...and he's always had stars around him, so he'd be okay here I think. If the Spurs can win a ring with him so can we.

Howard for Jackson straight up would be unbelievable, but that would only happen if Indy got desperate. We might get him if we give up a pick (I would do top 10 protected...he's not worth that much).

Why would any other team want Juwan Howard? Chuck Hayes would be only PF left.

Why do they have do that damn draft day deal!!! otherwise, we will have a lot more options
