All I'm saying is this DD, Jackson,Maggette, and Turiaf for Tracy then on another deal Battier and cook for Camby. That team would be very good this year and when Yao comes back. Camby and Turiaf can hold down the 5 spot, Landry and Scola the 4, Jackson,Ariza, and Maggette the 2/3 and Brooks and Lowry the pg. That team has quality depth, scoring in both the half court and in transition and would alsoo still be a good defensive team. Not to mention, they would be right at lux tax and would only have to move barry or hayes to get under. What's not to like?

i like it for this year and next. i dont like it after that.

we have a chance to rebuild with young players after yao and shane's contracts come off the books (assuming yao picks up his option next summer) in 2011. this trade would be an all in move for next season, then we'd be screwed until those long term deals from GS come off the books.

I think that is a fair assessment. It would admittedly be an "ALL IN" move...

We might have to make one of those sometime with the way our expirings are stacking up. We will not be able to re-sign everyone and it would suck to lose guys to free agency...for nothing in return...

Yao isnt going anywhere, you know it and i know it. I don't agree, but as long as yao can play, he's going to be in the rockets uni. Thats the truth, then get some more quality players around. Jackson is a better player than artest without a question. Maggette is the explosive, get to the free throw line attacker off the bench. Turiaf is the high energy shot blocker with the mid range game. Camby is also a shot blocker/rebounder to backup yao or even play with yao with size. Brooks,Lowry, and the rest of the guys can continue to get better. Yao has 3 yrs left, so just surround a talented cast and stop making excuses. He can never be the focus of a ring team, but if you have enough good players, it doesnt matter.

Jackson made big pplays and big shots. Manu could really get off the bench because of Jackson and Parker was a rookie. People can talk about him being a loose cannon, but he's a really good player.

The Spurs won 2 more rings after SJ left. I guess he wasn't that important to the Spurs.

So a bunch of you guys want a 31 year old role player with a sizable contract who likes to jack up shots like there is no tomorrow because alot of you think he can get us beyond the first round? Ummm when Morey offered a lukewarm lowball contract to Artest, that should give you a clue of what Morey thinks of the idea of getting Captain Jack.

You guys haven't paid attention of what Morey is trying to do with the roster, Captain Jack is about 5 years too old of what Morey wants right now.

Don't pretend you know what Morey is thinking. He could easily be stockpiling young talent to trade for a veteran stud to go with Tracy and Yao...

Oh yeah I forgot to put IMO. So that veteran stud is....Captain Jack? LOL

Stephen Jackson with (and this is making a big assumption) a healthy Yao and Tmac together again does not equal playoff success to me.

IMO you guys wanting Stephen Jackson and think Morey will even consider that is just a bunch of wishful thinking. With the current situation the Rockets are in, I don't think that's a Morey move IMO, considering the state of what the Rockets are in now. That's a common fan armchair radio listener/caller move.

    Gitterdun Morey! *snicker*

You are telling me that this would not be a serious contender for a ring?

    Aaron Brooks
    Tracy McGrady
    Shane Battier
    Luis Scola
    Yao Ming
    ------------------------------------
    Kyle Lowry
    Stephen Jackson
    Trevor Ariza
    David Andersen
    Chuck Hayes

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Knote32, the armchair GM, disagrees...

All you clowns that think Stephen Jackson is getting too old, or is going to just drop off, think about this...

He has yet to play 20,000 NBA minutes....

Kevin Garnett has ALREADY played 40,000....

Stephen Jackson is an excellent player, that understands what it takes to win, combined with an immense understanding of the game, and solid defense... As a third or fourth option, maybe even fifth! We would be championship bound imo...

Comparing Stephen Jackson to Kevin Garnett = FAIL

Who cares how many minutes Garnett has played? He's played more minutes because he's an infinitely better player then SJ! Duh!

...and KG was drafted 2 years before SJ...and was the 5th pick overall in his draft, not the 43rd pick like SJ...

If knote32 makes it through a post without mentioning Kevin Garnett it's nothing short of a miracle.

He also seems to be extremely naive in still employing the "Yao and Tracy" line of thinking.

    1. Kevin Garnett? I don't get it, when did I mention Kevin Garnett before, EVER?
    2. Tracy is still a Rocket last I looked, and you would be extremely naive to think that Yao is not a Rocket for life, or that Tracy can be traded for equal value. Talk to me directly so I can run circles around you...

And btw, shooting 41-42 percent is not bad AT ALL if you are taking 5-7 three pointers a game.

The points per shot ratio is rather high actually.

His TS% last season was .530, below league average, I believe.
