his stats are inflated b/c he plays in a fast-paced offense where the warriors average 109 points a game. no doubt jackson is a fine player and is a great deal at that price, but to expect him to duplicate those #s with our team is unrealistic. i would overlook his fg% b/c he's a very good all-around player.
Stupid trade ideas, because Jackson's contract makes him the quintessential anti-Morey type player. Seriously, most CF trade threads have always sucked but since Tracy and Yao are gone next season, trade suggestions have hit an all time low. And if we're going to play this game, here's one. If Yao's foot isn't healing properly by the deadline, I think it's possible that Morey will try to acquire Gortat from Orlando, with Shane being part of the deal. Baseless speculation, of course.
Again... He doesn't fit what Daryl and Rick are trying to do. His contract is not worth it and the guy is a true ball stopper on offense... It just will not work with what the Rockets are trying to do.. The motion offense does not need players like Jackson...
I have always been a huge Captain Jack fan, and I would love him on the Rockets if the price were right. Unfortunately, like many have mentioned, his contract is a concern. I think the guy is incredibly underrated in many areas. With the right leadership, his defense is pretty darn good. He would add the element of toughness we need since Ron Ron left. I wouldn't give up much for him though, so I don't think he will be headed to Houston. Can we trade Matt Maloney's contract for him? Please.
He's a guy that draws fouls and gets to the FT line a lot. This compensates for his lower FG percentages. Yah, Jax is a Jacker. But he has been an effective offensive player because of his ability to penetrate, finish, and dish, combined with streak shooting.
NO to Jax. If you guys pulled your hair out whenever Artest had the ball, you are going to insane with Stephen Jax. Dude is a total selfish player. His handles are actually worse than Artest's, and he is no where near the defender. And it makes no sense from his standpoint either, Rox aren't championship contending, so how would this better than his situation in GS?
If Captain Jack is such a "ballstopper", "ballhog", "cancer", How has he been on so many winning teams, and how has he found a way to fit in perfect with multiple all-stars in the past? He has been effective in a slow system, and faster systems, and motion based systems, so why would he not fit, in our system? One thing is for certain, he is a guy you want on your side in a heated playoff game. He is a killer...
Not crazy about his contract but I think the Rockets would have to at least take a look at a 3 team trade with the principles being (plus fillers of course): Rockets get: Camby Jackson Warriors get: McGrady Clippers get: Maggette
1. His handles and decision making/IQ are SOOOOO much more polished than Ron that it makes me wonder if you are watching the same guy. 2. Don Nelson used him at point guard last year by design... It was the only way that they could get the few wins that they did. 3. Rockets WILL be championship contending next year... 4. Jack is from Houston... And guys, he has a FANTASTIC contract for what he produces on the court. Not even close to a bad contract If we are in it to win sometime in Yao's short career...2-4 years left maybe?
I like this as a potential lineup. Ramon Sessions/Lowry Trevor Ariza/Taylor/Battier (6th Man role is perfect for him) Stephen Jackson/Battier/Budinger Scola/Bonsu/Hayes (Landry for Sessions) Andersen/Bonsu/Dorsey (Unproven)
"Not crazy about his contract but I think the Rockets would have to at least take a look at a 3 team trade with the principles being (plus fillers of course):" Rockets get: Camby Jackson Warriors get: McGrady Clippers get: Maggette Why would the clippers want magette back?
i'd trade for him...i don't even think it would take much to get him either...he's like our replacement artest.
Do we really want another "Artest" on our team? Plus he said that he wants to win a championship, with whom may I ask. If there's going to be a trade, I for one think that T-Mac would definitely be involved in that trade. I say we should just sit this year out, if in the mid february we have a chance for a playoff spot we make a little push (maybe we could make the 8th place), if not no harm done, the 2010 summer will have the answer for our roster.
I like Jackson as much as anyone and I'm not sure bout him in houston, but if you think Yao has 3 good, All star level yeas left, then you make the move and another move and go with it. Tracy and Taylor for Jackson,Maggette, and Turiaf In another deal, Shane and Cook for Camby. Of course here comes the why's?Brooks,Jackson,Ariza,Scola, and Camby gives the Rockets are really good starting 5. Jackson can play ina movement offense and is a good defender and playmaker. Brooks,Ariza, scola, turiaf, landry, maggette, and lowry have shown to be good role players. Brooks-Lowry Jackson-Maggette-Buddinger Ariza-Maggete-Buddinger Scola-Landry-Hayes Camby-Turiaf-Anderson That team can compete right now. Next yr when Yao comes back.Camby can either be resigned orr let walk with Turiaf being the primary backup. Scola can be resigned or let walk, or a sign and trade. So when gets back, he will have Jackson, brooks, maggette, and ariza as guys who can play with him and without him. When he leaves the floor, Turiaf can protect the rim and rebound or if they resign Camby he can do it. It can't just be a move for Jackson, it has to be a couple of moves to overhaul the squad.
