Going to have to disagree with that. He was a big part of the '03 spurs championship team. And he played for some good teams in indy too before the implosion

He doesn't make sense for next year.

But what if you thought he could be the missing piece on a championship contender and could get him for next to nothing, but only if done this year? Would he be worth paying the luxury tax?

Let's say he could be had this summer for Barry, Cook, and Dorsey. Considering his asset cost is virtually nothing, is he worth the tax? What if you think putting him on a 2010 team with a returning Yao and McGrady puts this team back into the mix? He has his warts, but he is a much, much better player than Ron Artest at this point. And a healthy Tracy with Ron Artest on this team last year probably would have won the title.

    A lineup of:

    Scola/Landry
    Battier/Jacko
    Yao/Anderson
    McGrady/Ariza
    Brooks/Lowry

...is serious business if McGrady is at '07 level and Yao can recover. I think this would definitely be a 'bird in the hand' to consider if the team is committed to actually bringing back Mac as recent indications seem to suggest.

We have Battier and Ariza. I don't think we need him that much, although he is a better player than both of them.

You people keep saying how he helped the spurs win the championship. That team was stacked with T parker, Manu, and Timmy D. They could of won it without him. He's a headcase, injury riddled player and a chemistry killer. Thats why Indy shipped him to the Warriors to start their collection on white players.
The bottom line is we don't need him since we are rebuilding anyways, and we are don't contending this year. The only reason why we wants to be here cause he lives here.

No thanks, he's a chucker and shoots percentages similar to that of McGrady, but he doesn't have the excuse that he's not healthy.

SJAX is volatile but someone who could be the missing piece on a championship team!

The Fantasy RM in me would love this...

Rox get SJAX and Rudy F.

Warriors get T.Outlaw, Cook and Barry

    Blazers get Battier

    A guy can dream no?!?!?!

That's not true. He is a great leader. Without him, the warriors wouldn't beat the mavs in playoffs a couple of years ago. And, the pacers wouldn't make the playoffs when Artest was suspended.

Umm, Manu was just a rookie that year and wasn't as instrumental to that Spurs team as the 2005 and 2007 group. Stephen Jackson came up big in those series.

He's not a chemistry killer by any means, don't know where you got that from. Yes he has had maturity issues, but it was never to the point where it technically killed his team. In fact, he has played well in the playoffs and has been a key component for his teams advancing.

That's not true. He is a great playmaker, can play 1, 2, 3 positions. Last year, when Ellis was injured, he played the pg position.

If we could get a deal like that done, I would be all for it. As much as I love Battier that deal would definitely make us a whole lot better. A young talent plus a leader for this team, boy I would jump all over this.

If I was Cleveland I would definitely give up dwest and dgib, but wont happen golden states has enough guards at 6'3 and under.

He is a streaky shooter but he is still a good player that mostly has a positive effect on his team. He does commit a lot of turnovers but I'm sure that could be minimized by having the balls in the hands of Lowry more (who would be a perfect starter with Jackson at SG).

Shooting percentages are really low but if you ask me that hardly seems like a negative effect (as much as a Rafer Alston had with our team).

Manu was pretty irrelevant that year. Jacko played a huge role in that team winning a title.

I have a life as well. I'm sure simple observations when watching a few games a year would not drive you away from having a life. Any other excuses?

100% wrong. He helps chemistry greatly, and is a VERY smart basketball player...
