lol @ people in this thread acting like they know who lived a tougher life. Funny thing is Stephen Jackson tweeted a few days ago that he didn't live in a rough neighborhood.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>After Stephen Jackson threatened Serge Ibaka, Spurs issue harshly worded statement promising to fine him.</p>— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/277976088456605696" data-datetime="2012-12-10T03:20:38+00:00">December 10, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I'm surprised it took the Spurs this long. Was beginning to think nothing would happen. This is the kind of stupid stuff that will get Jack put in Pop's doghouse.
Anyone who says Ibaka is a fake tough guy(whether in the Bosh mold or not) doesn't know what they're talking about. He may not be a martial arts expert like DJ Mbenga but trust me Serge has hands. I know the guy and he is a tough cat. Also, Serge did not grow up in a great part of Rep. of Congo.
it's all translated on page one. he was sticking up for World Peace, tangled up with Ibaka. dude was watching the lakers/okc game at home and just random tweeting out loud, reliving the glory days in 'da hood. fined 25,000 http://sports.yahoo.com/news/spurs-jackson-fined-twitter-message-035914416--nba.html makes the Halloween photo incident with clean cut Parker and Duncan even more laughable and a non-issue...
I did not talk about toughness at all in my post. I just was stating that Ibaka was poor but it did not mean he had a tougher childhood. Also, i did not say he grew up in a great part of congo. He wasnt wealthy but was not in the middle of those areas of gun/machete violence that is portrayed in the media. on another note, its experience/skills not ones childhood that makes them tough. By this I mean that just because a kid grew up in the hood, doesnt mean they know how to fight.
Im not acting bud, Im stating things based on interviews and articles that the said person was in. I know enough from these to make my post. Also, the "tough" childhood of jackson was not due to his neghbourhood but what he was involved in. He associated himself with the bloods, and had said he had gotten in some altercations in the past... (now he said he still reps red but doesnt engage in their activities)
wait, so you're telling me....that DH Mbenga is a martial arts expert? lol!! so what's Adam Morrison's excuse then??
i never said he would win in a fight.. although the same thing can be said about peeps growing up in the hood... i said he probably had a tougher childhood... if you read what he went thru - growing up in the congo with a lot of civil unrest, having lost his mom at a young age and to move to another country and learn a new language. you gotta admit that's tough on a young man.
Guess this game should shut any Spurs player up about OKC players and team. Thunder still the best and team to beat in the West.
Ibaka would destroy jack, he aint bout dat life doe. Ibaka is 6'10", 235 lbs of solid muscle from Africa, dat boy aint nuttin to play wit
He destroyed the Spurs tonight with 25/17. Jumper was money, plus some PnRs with KD and points from offensive rebounds. Getting good at PnRs is the next stage of his development on offense. Ibaka is a force to be reckoned with when he decides to play physical on the offensive boards.
