I don't understand the thinking of people who advocate trades for older players like Jackson or Steve Nash. If we were one player away from being a championship contender then sure. But we're no where near championship contenders. I suppose if you could get him in a straight up swap of Jared Jeffries, then sure. But I don't see that happening. We'd probably have to include some young talent or draft picks and it isn't worth mortgaging our future on.

Not true. Chuck would have value for a contender.

JT is still a project at best ....more likely what he is now...a guy trying to find a place on an NBA roster.

This is not good logic, if we were a player away from contenders then we wouldn't need SJ. Stephen Jackson or Nash would not be that final piece, however to get closer to where we wanna be, WE NEED SOMEONE TOUGH.

What would be nice is to swing a trade for jackson and some how figure out how to swing another deal to get iggy......!Also finding out a way to keep martin, yao and scola......while giving up players like lee, battier, bud, patterson or jefferies.

    lowry/brooks/ish
    martin/iggy/taylor
    iggy/jackson/taylor
    scola/jackson/hill/hayes
    miller/hill/yao

I dont think you hold back on an upgrade just because it doesnt vault you into immediate contention. No trade can guarantee this. You do what you can in the present without penalizing your self in the future too much.

I think Jackson has more value to us now, then what we would be giving up in the future. The added salary would be the only reason not to do this, and that wouldnt effect us this year since we would be giving up something about equal. You can always use him now, and then move him latter if the returns dont merit keeping him.

Everything that you just said would be correct if he would be our number 1 option, but he won't.

It would also be nice for us to trade Jeffries and JT for D.Wade and Lebron. Come on man, be realistic.

That would be nice, but i don't think one or the other would want to come off the bench.

This team needs fire in its collective belly. Stephen Jackson can provide that. I'm becoming more and more convinced he's a better alternative to what we currently have.

Lets not turn Sjax into a saint, that fire in his belly was missing when he asked to be traded from GS right after signing his extension.

I would get him simply because he's the type of player suited for an RA team-a vet who's used to playing a lot of minutes. Sjax is solid at almost every aspect of the game, RA can give him a lot of PT without worrying about subs or particular matchups or whatever. Better yet it'll allow us to turn Battier's corpse into someone useful. I'm sure Brown would be all over Battier in a second, and MJ would like an expiring contract. Sjax for Battier and JT, get it done DM. Plus, getting rid of JT would give us the roster spot to bring in Ericka Dampier...

Well he was playing for a senile lunatic in GS., so that doesn't count. Also, it would have to be two for two trade because they also have 15 players.
