I'll agree there, all right. I've never wanted Jackson here and I still don't understand why people do. The idea of trading Brooks AND Battier for him is laughable.
All that i have been reading all week is "our team is too soft". The minute that Jackson is available i hear, "He's a thug, he's too hard for us".
He'd give our starting unit instant street credibility... Jack's one of the hardest dudes in this league. We need an OG of Captain's caliber to play alongside a weasel like Kevin Martin.
Plus, we have already seen what a little attitude(Artest) can do for the team. Good things. Maybe this is the answer to all of the "this team is too soft" people. A bad-ass who can back it all up.
I like him..he's clutch when he was playing for the Warriors. He totally dominate the Mavs with his ability to drive and shoot. I think he fits in well with this team.
Please, God, no. We don't need a chucker like him. You want to talk about ball stoppers, give the ball to Jackson on the 3pt line. It's a glorified turnover. I'd rather save the assets we have for when something better becomes available.
Are people really using his performance in the playoffs from 4 years ago as some sort of evidence of how good he is now? Hell, by those standards, Shane Battier must be a 44% three-point shooter... maybe we should keep him.
I don't know...Jackson has given the Bobcats a lot and in my opinion he is a very valuable piece in their team. I would think that the team would want someone that could fill Jackson's role. I think we would have to give them Battier and Hayes (we keep Taylor) as well. With that in mind we would have to receive a 2nd Bobcat (to fit the salaries), I'm thinking in the lines of Diop/Carroll/Diaw/Mohammed.
Not true. Chuck would have value for a contender. JT is still a project at best ....more likely what he is now...a guy trying to find a place on an NBA roster.
I'm a big fan of getting Captain Jack. Like others have said he is a valuable two way player, which we could really use. Too many of our players are either good at offense or defense and get exposed on a regular basis, I'm looking at you Brooks and Battier That being said I think we really need a shot blocking PF who can defend the paint, be a physical presence on the floor and get some REBOUNDS.
No contender is going to consider dropping an integral part of their rotation (which is obviously what we'll be looking for) for a deal involving a 6'6'' PF with no lift/offensive skills, unless we couple him with a very strong piece. Our best bet to make a game-changing deal is with another bottom feeder, a team that would be interested in a young, talented swingman like JT, who hasn't tapped in to his full potential yet. No cellar dweller is going to have interest in Hayes, but they might find JT intriguing.
