Stephen Jackson can be wild, turnover prone, and jack up a ton of bad shots, but I like his game. He's a great defender with long arms. If the Spurs are willing to take a chance on him we defintely should too. GET IT DONE
Everything the Rockets are about is a 2-6 record. You guys have been sold on this whole Daryl Morey "money ball" ***** but it doesnt win championships. We dont care if he's "Daryl Morey guy". The guy can score and defend, that's it. Shane Battier for Stephen Jackson (maybe some fillers) Get'er done Morey
Top five players win Championships. SJ is not the answer to our problems, but he could cost us the assets needed to potentially acquire a player who will be.
First off, Jackson's won a championship. Secondly, our immediate need is a small foward who can play offense AND defense. We have too many one sided players. Jackson would be a great addition.
He contributed, but he wasn't the best player on the team. Adding SJ isn't going to make us a contender. We save our assets until we get a franchise player, then we use the remaining assets to tweak the roster. If we add SJ, but aren't able to get a franchise player, we've needlessly given up assets for a guy who will be 33 next year. No thanks.
I like SJ's game...he has the swagger that we need..but this team needs shot blocking and height at the front court.
i lough Jackson toughness, D and his ability to do everything on offense that said i absolutely hate how many boneheaded plays and shots he takes the guy seriously could have been a top 15 player in the league if he was just a bit smarter
I'm a huge Captain Jack fan. He would fit perfectly at the SF position. I'm all for bringing him in. Good defender and a good offensive player albeit streaky. But he has ice in his veins come fourth quarter, just the type of player we need.
43 wins, one more than the Rockets had last year, while playing Western teams only 2x each. 7th seed in the East, would have missed playoffs in the West with the same record. They won 35 games the year before. Sure, the guy is a pretty good player. As Yoyo said, he has definite strengths and weaknesses. I love Ron Artest, who had many of the similar attributes, as a Rocket. Wouldn't mind having Jackson, either, especially given the fact that the price for him in a trade is not likely to be that high given his age (though it's not my money the team would be spending to pay him). In any case, I think he can make the team better, but isn't going to carry them deep into the playoffs by himself or anything. He has skills on offense, but not exactly elite and can be shut down by a good defense as proven last year in the playoffs.
So he can help us to get booted out of the 1st or second round and Still have his contract and handcuffing our flexibility. No thanks.
