Sign Jackson if you can get him for around $2 million. He is a talent. He was the only Spur, aside from Kerr, who had the stones to take and make the big outside shot, when the teams had Duncan tripled teamed in the playoffs. This is an important quality.

I do admit that we have this quality in pretty good supply with, Cuttino, Steve and Moochie and others.

If worse comes to worse he is a valuable chip to use in trades. When it comes to trades you need talent to get back talent.

    Something I found curious.

Ask yourself, what is the qualitative difference between Jackson and James Posey? The World Champion Spurs (before they acquired Hedo) offered Jackson less than 60% of what a team which has never had a winning record offered Posey. Perhaps there's a reason the Spurs had a boatload of cap money this summer and will have a boatload again next summer.

IMHO, I wouldn't even approach the 3 yr @ $10m deal he turned down with the Spurs. How about a cheap 2 year deal (which gives the Rox Early Bird Rights) with some incentives? IOW, Piatkowski, A Griffin and Stephen Jackson for less money and less years than Posey. Good money management IMO.

    Nah,,,,

Why would we need a guy that is used to playing in a big man's offense, who is a good defender and a quality 3 point shooter?

    Nah,

We don't need a guy like that, who is also a good cutter.....

    Nah......The Rockets are set......

No, wait a minute...WE DO NEED A player like that.

    Sign him.

My bet is that he signs with the Hawks. They have some cap room, and he's tight with Jason Terry...

Exactly, an athletic, slashing wing player who can hit the outside shot, and knows how to play in an offense dominated by the Big Man is perfect! And people forget, yes we want Yao to be the focal point, but there is going to be nights where he's double or triple teamed, facing another dominant big man, or just having an off night. Having scorers and outside shooters like Jackson, Mobley and Francise would be ideal. At least wou would have teams having second thoughts about running gimmick defenses against Yao. And a team with the fire power of Yao, Francis, Cat and Jackson could compete with and beat most any team in the league. Definitely we would easily be better then Portland and Phoenix.

I am not sure this is correct. They have/had ~$52m committed plus Jason Terry less Terrell Brandon when he "retires".

IIRC, they needed part of their MLE to sign Jacques Vaughn who is only their 10th contracted player. You may ultimately be right, but I don't think it would be a slam dunk if the Rox made a reasonable offer.

If the Hawks and Rox offer are similar in length and compareable in $$$, then I think he'd rather come home.

For example, if they offered 2 years and 5M, while we offered 2 years and 4M, I think he'd pick us.

Right now, I think he just wants a chance to get a better contract.

I'd like to see what Jackson could do under JVG, for a minimal price.

I'd like to have Jackson...period, end of story...

I doubt it'll happen, but stranger things have happened (like, MoT and Cato getting huge contracts)...;)
