Curry may as well be the better player in the future, he is a dead eye shooter. All I'm saying is comments calling him a great playmaker and potential to be better than 2 time MVP steve nash who is tearing the league up at 35 or w.e are just flat out r****ded.
There should be an official Steph Curry thread .... Steph is better than AB right now. AB has an edge in quickness and athleticism, but Curry is better at everything else. Shooting, dribbling, court vision and passing, general floor game, rebounding, defense, steals ... If I had the first pick in the draft of this year's rookies, I would take Curry. Remember, this is his SECOND YEAR playing the point. He will improve significantly, especially when he gets in a better team situation.
Comments about him being a great playmaker are well founded. Ask Ronny Turiaf who's been getting him the wide open dunks this season on pick and rolls. Ask Tolliver. Like A3P0 said, watch 5 games of Curry or less and I'm certain you'll come away with a new respect for his game.
I love Brooks and what he does for the Rockets but saying that Curry isn't a great point guard is insane. Yes he plays for the Warriors, but the kid can flat out play. He can shoot and he has GREAT court vision. I've been watching all of Golden State's games this year and this kid has IT. It's almost a shame he plays in Golden State because they haven't done anything in years but Curry will be a great player for years to come. His court vision is amazing for a rookie.
He has the potential to be better than Brooks, but how can you people be so certain he's better right now? His numbers are pretty similar (worse in terms of scoring), and his team is substantially worse.
To add to that, Brooks is the leading scorer on the better team, and Curry is the third leading on a worse team. Plus, Brooks' numbers would probably be off the charts in Nellie's system.
It's gonna be all about Tyreke Evans looking back at this draft. Mark my words, the kid is going to be a superstar once he developes that jumper.
You have to realize that most people in this thread have watched about 1 warrior game this year and think that stephen curry chunks up shots. You obviously have watched the games. It is quite obvious to see that he is a pass first point guard.
You're forgeting something. Curry is NOT the first scorer in GSW this season while Brooks was the only true scorer on this team until Martin came. Actually he was the 3rd or 4th scoring option like 1 month ago.Stephan Jackson(he played for GSW before mid-november), Ellis(he has the ball all the time in Nellie's offense), Magette and even Morrow&CJ Watson. Now he started to score and playing to point with Ellis out. With Ellis in, don't count S-Curry playing the point guard, he is more like a spot up shooter.
Lakers and Warriors tonight on ESPN so buckle up boys. Hope Curry puts on a show for everyone to see!
I thought I would chime in on this one. I am a Rocket Fan living in Oakland, CA and have watched 30+ Warriors games this year and can say without a doubt that Curry is playmaking baller. First of all, his court vision is excellent, he knows how to run a team (i.e. get people their touches- like Morrow, or create layups for all the Ws D-league scrubes etc.), and just has an excellent feel for the game that you cannot teach (anyone that plays basketball knows what I mean). Check out the draft preview clip where Bobby Knight calls Curry the best college passer he has ever seen. Second, the kid can shoot the 3 and finish inside. While he is not an "explosive finisher" ala Monta Ellis, but he is crafty and knows how to get his shot off. Finally, he has got "it" and should blossom into a perennial Top-6 pg in the very near future. His game reminds me of Steve Nash - period. Not saying he will be better, but he is already ahead of Nash after 1 year into their careers. Curry also plays very mature. With respect to the Golden State stats factor, maybe his stats are slightly inflated but he is truly the only guy here that holds this team together even though they are terrible. Otherwise it is a team of George Costanza chuckers just taking turns firing away. He put a fairly quick end to "who should be the PG out here? Monta or Curry?." it is not even close. Compared to Brooks, there is no question Curry will quickly pass AB and has a much higher ceiling. Brooks simply doesn't make the passes that Curry can and does not have the court vision. Brooks still makes plays but in a different way and not in the pure point guard sense. Both are small defenders. Maybe Morey could get Curry, then yall could see what I mean. Check him out against the Lake Show tonight.
We already know what Brooks' stats would be like with the Ws, see Monta Ellis. Throw out October and November and Curry is averaging almost 20 points per game. I am sure morey would trade AB for Curry in second if he could.
He is 10x better than brooks was in his rookie season, and this kid is going to shine for the next 7-10 years.....mark my word
I would trade whatever they want for Curry if we rebuild. For now, I would send Budinger+Brooks and Knicks pick for Curry+CJ Watson without hesitation. I love Aaron Brooks, but Curry is the most ideal pg to this team now, and his future will be glorious.
Anyone watching this game still believe all Stephen Curry can do is shoot the ball, that he is not a very good playmaker? If so, stop the drugs. AB can pass sometimes but he has tunnel vision compared to this guy. And remember, he is a ROOKIE. Maybe the smartest rookie I've ever seen.
The kid is phenomenal. I was skeptical at first when Battier said that Curry played like a veteran in regular season opener between the Warriors and us, but now we all know what he meant. I guess he really soaked in everything he saw when he tailed his dad as a kid. Stephen Curry is legit.
