Tayshaun Prince, George Gervin, Kevin Martin.

Why is it people keep making the false assumption that players need to be big to play basketball?

Those players are 6'7 and above. Curry is probably barely 6'0.

Dang! Can you imagine Kerr sitting out there nailing 3 pointer after 3 pointer off the kickouts from 111? A career 45% 3 point shooter. I'd take that any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

the thing with brooks and even head is that they worked hard in college to become better 3 point shooters by their senior years. curry is a natural born shooter.

curry reminds me of bj armstrong.

why does everyone want to turn curry into a spot-up guy? He's been making a living off screens and curls.. AND that's exactly what his pops did in the NBA. I'm sure some of you see that in stephen.. I sure do. Maybe it's the easy thing and that's why no one's doing it..? But I definitely see him as a dell! 6th man shooter extrodinaire...off screens, off curls, wide open, on breaks, whatever...the man will drop the J.

I'd be lying to you if I said I knew how good Curry was before the tourney. I did watch Davidson once, but I didn't really pay that close of attention. But I have friends that watch a lot of Mid-Major basketball, and they have been raving about him all year. It's not just a few good games in the tourney.

Totally agree with you. When you got a high caliber shooter, you design plays so he can get off his shot. When you got a guy that can consistenly bang down the 3 at close to 50%, you've got to design plays where he comes off screens and gets his shot. But we ain't done that with Novak. We ain't done it with Brooks. Don't see it happening in Houston. If a guy can hit 45% of his 3 point shots, that's 1.35 points per shot alone. If he gets to the foul like a few times to go along with it, it should be relatively easy to get his points per shot to over 1.4, and that is a pretty efficient offensive player when you have a guy that can get you over 1.4 points per shot. I really, really wish we'd run screen and curls for Novak.

I was fortunate to read about him as a freshman before last season's tourney kicked off. He had a great first round game in their loss last year, so I made an effort to watch him play from the outset this season. I saw him some very early in the year, and then I saw three or four games down the stretch. More than anything else, I did a lot of box-score watching this season. It's exciting to see him get the pub now, and that quick release of his will negate a lot of the size differential in the NBA on the offensive end.

so armstrong who was a 42% career 3p shooter in the NBA doesn't compare, but his dad's 40% career shooting does because his last name is also curry.

and bj was also a 45% playoff 3pt shooter.

and their body types are similar as well.

if stephen shoots 47% from the field and 42% from 3 like bj did in his nba career he would be fortunate. and obviously he would be just as fortunate to have a career like his dad's.

they don't compare because of their last names. It's because of their shot type, shot selection, form, quick release. Armstrong was mostly a set shooter with those 3's. Dell Curry came off screens and curls and was known for an incredibly quick release. Pretty much just like Stephen. Throw in the extremely similar form, and yeah, I think he compares much better to Dell than BJ.

    thanks for the good info.

also, throw in the fact, bj armstrong was not known as a scorer, which dell curry was known as a scorer/shooter.

i don't remember phil jackson setting up screens for BJ to shoot the ball either. the only reason they are similar is the have the same happy smiley face.

curry is straight up a reggie miller if you don't want to compare him to his dad.

Reggie Miller is half a foot taller than Curry.

    Here's a thought - Juan Dixon.

the poster i responded to said bj was never this good of a shooter. if stephen puts up bj type numbers in the nba he'll be lucky.

and dell would have had the same role as paxson and bj if he played with jordan. during jordan's 1st retirement his role expanded and he showed more of his game.

    dude,
post jordan, armstrong jacked up 200 3s per season. pre-jordan less than 200.

dell curry in his prime jacked up 300-400 per season.

one can conclude that dell curry's role was a shooter.

did bj armstrong ever go to the 3point contest? he was never ever known as a 3 point shooter. he had a high percentage cause he took much fewer 3s.

and for the reggie miller comparison, that was his game, not how tall he is or if they look similar or eat the same breakfast.

Apart from being a spot up 3 pt shooter under Van Gundy. Head is now being exposed for all his flaws under Adleman.

Curry is a much purer shooter than Dixon. He reminds me of a slightly slower Chris Jackson/Abdul-Rauf, when Jackson played at LSU. That guy was lightning in a little bottle. Curry has a purer stroke though, but not as good a playmaker.

Curry is his own player, and he will be good in the pros, he knows his way around the court....nice player.
