andymoon, you've truly gone over the edge. Your hatred is plain for anybody to see. It has affected your thought process. You honestly think the world is coming to and end under Bush. I'm truly getting a hearty belly laugh knowing that you'll have to sit through two and a half more years of him in the White House.
You change the question and you want to accuse me of having short memory? I made a statement about the low point of Clinton's approval ratings history and compared it to Bush current approval ratings in an effort to ask what all the fuss is about. First you try to accuse me of using it to gain tread on some larger issue... WHICH I NEVER DID. Then you try to finesse me into extapolating the data I cited to morph it into making another grander point WHICH I NEVER DID. Why do I get accused of being desperate?
How can I just let you walk away, just let you leave without a trace When I stand here taking every breath with you, ooh You're the only one who really knew me at all How can you just walk away from me, when all I can do is watch you leave 'Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain, and even shared the tears You're the only one who really knew me at all So take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face Take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space And you coming back to me is against all odds and that's what I've got to face I wish I could just make you turn around, turn around and see me cry There's so much I need to say to you, so many reasons why You're the only one who really knew me at all So take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space And there's nothing left here to remind me, just the memory of your face Take a look at me now, 'cos there's just an empty space But to wait for you, well that's all I can do and that's what I've got to face Take a good look at me now, 'cos I'll still be standing here And you coming back to me is against all odds That's the chance I've got to take, oh, oho Just take a look at me now
Bixtexxx, you've truly gone over the edge. Your blind partisanship is plain for anybody to see. You honestly think that the world is a better place under Bush. I'm truly getting a hearty belly laugh knowing that you are nothing more than a pathetic partisan hack, and a weak one at that.
Please, you didn't "counter" anything. You, like texxx, basso, and the rest of the apologists, try to deflect to a tangent when you've said something inane. I am a nice guy. But this strawman of "well Clinton did it" is tiresome and insulting. Yes Clinton's approval hit some lows, so what? What does that prove? Nothing except a way to deflect what an utter failure this president has become. The list that started this thread shows the contempt that this administration has shown towards the American people and it’s frustrating as hell to see people like you accept it as "normal" that our elected officials act that way. I don't accept it and know that America deserves better.
You called Bush supporters crazy in direct response to the mention of 32% approval ratings for President Bush: I countered everything you threw at me. My counters were not in defense of Bush they were in defense of myself against your maneuverings on straying with the data I provided and trying to show how my date failed to support the points that I was not even trying to make.
Let's see if I get this right... Bush's approval rating seemingly reaches new lows with each poll, this in his second term with no real oversight from Congress or the press. Clinton was in the 30's for a brief period of time in his first administration, but hit his high point in the 70's when the impeachment process was underway. Clinton left office with a 68% approval rating. If these things happen to all presidents, Bush should start to rebound anytime, as Clinton did (and Reagan). Now, we know the economy has nothing to do with it... it was robust under Clinton and Bushistas tell us every chance they get that the economy is strong now, so it effectively cancels any argument that the approval ratings are reflected in the economy. So again, it is only cyclical and Bush should start to increase his popularity soon. So why am I so certain that Bush will never again get within 25 points of the number Clinton had when he left office? (Do people realize Bush is within two points of the Disapproval records set by Nixon?) Here's the same chart with approval ratings... If these charts are any indication, Bush is weeks away from resigning in disgrace, not rebounding to the levels of the popular President Clinton.
You can oversimplify great complexities if you want to. Poll numbers rise and plummett based on perceptions about performance under varying circumstances. Just to look at the number without a comprehensive consideration of the circumstances is just politicking.
Not about a president specifically, but I saw that a CBS poll found that 71 or 72% polled feel that the country is going in the wrong direction. Don't really know what that means (the question is broad/vague) but apparently that is the highest percentage ever in the 25 years they have done this particular one. I think that is cool.
