but do you have any of that him admitting that in quotes? Melo has stood by his word since the knicks started out terrible. He said he loves playing in NY, and he will retire a knick. If he turns around and leaves NY after standing by his word even up until now, he'll be more hated than Dwight howard and lebron james.

I don't think they upgrade on offense either. One of either Harden or Melo would have to sacrifice points and I have yet to see Melo do it and Harden doesn't strike me as someone who would be willing to return to a secondary role. Although, their is a precedent for Harden's ability to compliment other superstar players. So who knows.

He just said the things I stated over the weekend. It's been featured on First Take and they showed a video of him stating exactly what I said he said. Staying in NY will mean the end of his career, hated or not Lebron and Dwight are contending.

i've seen the globetrotters have 2 baskeballs on an offensive possession, maybe the league would allow us the same if we have harden and melo. #basketisoballreasons

Melo coming mid season would necessitate him taking a deferring role

    Wouldn't Melo-Harden just be Melo-A.I.: Part II?

That must explain why Stephen Jackson is so revered while nice guys like Kevin Durant are snickered at.

    Seriously, though...

One could make the argument that Lin is disrespected by the refs because he's not a star. But I haven't seen one iota of evidence to suggest that other NBA players don't respect Lin. During Linsanity, everybody from LeBron to Magic to Kobe had nothing but nice things to say for him. Last season, when he was struggling at the beginning of the year, Tony Parker said that Lin was essentially a jump shot away from being an excellent NBA PG.

Even people like Stephen A. Smith are giving Lin props.

Trade for complimentary type Luol Deng instead of Melo. If Deng doesn't work out, can try to sign Melo as a free agent if Lin & Asik salaries are both dumped (?). Or use the cap space in some other way to leverage 3rd star.

Adjusted to not take any salary past this summer:

    Rockets get: Deng, Aldrich, Udrih
Cavs get: Asik, Felton, DMo, Shumpert
    Knicks get: Lin

this makes most sense of post on here about melo, you want to try not to include DMO, you don't trade for melo, you try to get him this sure for cheaper if you really want him.

Wait what? Knicks sent out Shumpert, Udrih, and Felton to then only get Lin? Are they getting picks or something?

Works without Dmo too, if Cavs are willing to take on Felton for just Asik & Shumpert.

But - if Rockets don't really need DMo now anyway, and they're trying to clear salary for this summer... and there isn't much of a market for him... then I think he's useful for perception purposes here because the Cavs are making this trade to save face - and not lose Deng, for whom they gave up a draft pick, for 'nothing'.

Felton has negative value. Shumpert has regressed, and is taking up minutes from T Hardaway Jr. Many sources reporting they are searching for PG upgrade to Felton, which Lin definitely is.

No way that happens imo. Lin is not treated like a true 6th man on this team.
He's averaging 9.5 shots per game and has 20% usage.

Look at other prominent 6th men:
Jamal Crawford averages 14.5 attempts per game an has an extremely high 27.2% usage.
Ginobili averages 14.1 shots per game and has a 24% usage.

The Rockets have treated Lin as a true 6th man. You think a usage of 19.9% is not a lot? Well then look at these stats:
    Harden 26.9%
    Dwight 24.7%
    AB 21%
    Lin 19.9%
    Parsons 19.1%
    Casspi 18.5%
    Jones 18.2%
    DMo 17.5%
    Bev 14.4%

Now that AB is not gonna get any playingtime, Lin has the 3rd most usage while he is on the court.

"Sixth" men don't have to all be chuckers. If you go down the past winners list there are some notable non-chuckers.

Those stats wouldn't indicate lins true 6th man usage either, as in games he starts on the bench would greatly improve his usage closer to hardens
