You know what that's an interesting topic. Like when someone calls me that I don't even think about the mother part. Like when someone calls you a "son of a b****" are they actually calling your mom a b****? Most people who have called me that don't even know my mom?

Since SAS has underestimated the rockets every season since James Harden been here, I'm gonna go ahead and bet on a rockets final appearance.

Want to find a case study on why insider trading doesn't always succeed? Here you have it. More information that anyone on the internet, but his conclusions could be mistaken for a 12 year old rookie posting on clutch fans for the first time.

Kind of amazing all things considered.

Some of yall are just cry babies. This team is not just Harden + CP3.
All along been telling you this Melo trade may not go down, which is not necessarily a bad thing. You have been acting like you know better than Morey. Too bad. Go watch the thunders if you like.

Anyone who knows sports knows this isn't true. ESPN tells SAS take one stance, Max take another. SAS is a Philly/NYK homer and a hater, Max is a boxing guy (he is great, btw, at boxing knowledge, but just a casual watcher at all else).

Anyone who knows how media works knows this is for headlines. First take makes headlines (SAS is captivating, like him or not, and Max looks good on TV).

CP3 never was told Melo was surely coming here before he signed on for the trade, and anyone who actually thinks that is plain stupid. It makes for a good topic though.

The Rockets are a stacked team, who have really good synergy. They have star power, and have a very solid bench. The Thunder have star power, and defenders galore, no bench whatsoever. The Spurs are solid throughout and battle tested. The Wars rigged the system and will probably win again.

It's still GSW>all, the Rox/Spurs facing them>, Cleveland and Boston>, the Top Heavy media darlings OKC>, everyone else.

It'll be like last year, 1,2,3 out of the west, 4,5 as the only players in the east, then whatever.

Melo is better than Ryno, but hardly moves any needle, for any team, over the warriors.

I don't really believe in clutch pts like that because the sample size is too small. In comparison to all the shots a player takes for his entire career thats such a small part you don't really get any meaningful info. Like if you are looking at an elephant which is like the 1000 shots a player takes, the clutch pts will be like 30 which is like the trunk or something. If you use those 3o shots or the trunk to describe the elephant then you'd think it looks like a snake or something.

The clutch moniker isn't true imho simply because if a guy is truly clutch he wouldn't lose any games at all. If a guy is "clutch" but then still wins or loses the game then its just variance. Like in Cp3s case, if a 1/8 night turns him unclutch then the sample size is too small to make any conclusions eitherway.

I understand what you are saying. You have to take some consideration in when shots are taken though.

If someone takes a shot in the first quarter or the end of the 2nd quarter. It's different then when taking one at the end of the game when tired and the game is close.

Well if you look at the fact we were supposed to be a big 3 then yes. Season hasn't even started yet. Morey it is your turn to get us that third piece.

Yeah but what I'm saying is the shots are too few to account more to variance.

If you look at a player in terms of his entire career, maybe thats enough games to judge whether a guy is clutch or not. But season by season its too few to make any sort of judgement. For example what about when you take a shot at the end but you've been carrying the entire offense for 4 qs, then obv you will be tired af by the 4rth compared to somebody like KD who has guys like Curry helping him. Bit if you were on a better team, then your clutch #s would be better but that won't be reflected.

What if you are guarded by Kawhi at the last shot? Then your scoring will be worse than against somebody being guarded by Lonzo Ball. But you can't take out those factors because your clutch shots are too few. Thats why I laugh when people try to use stats who is clutch when the attempts are less than 100, its just too few.

The only really big significant piece that would have helped the Rockets more than any of the showcase players available is that disgruntled Marc Gasol in Memphis. The Rockets get him "healthy" without losing Capela and that changes the landscape of fortune by quite a bit.

There's no way we get him without giving up substantial pieces though. The only reason we were ever in the Melo sweepstakes is because he had a NTC and Houston was the only team he would go to. Gasol doesn't have that kind of leverage, but even if he did I suspect Memphis would do the same thing NY did and just not trade him for Ryan Anderson.
