This is simply not true. If this were true, why aren't there examples you guys can provide of young max players, other than LeBron (a once in a generation player), who turn down that sixth year? Player valuations change all the time. You cannot assume that Bosh will sign another max contract. Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming were around Bosh's age three years ago, and we were ecstatic about their future. Take a look at their open-market value right now.

Unless you are LeBron James, Tim Duncan or some other immediate Hall of Fame talent, you absolutely cannot take for granted that you will get another max contract. You especially can't this year with a new collective bargaining agreement looming that may lower maximum salaries.

That extra $30 million/one season is the ONLY reason the Rockets are in this game and it is the ONLY reason Bosh/Wade haven't already committed to a team like the Bulls. It's also why the Miami three-some idea didn't work out. I can absolutely, 100% promise you that that sixth year is a HUGE deal for Chris Bosh.

I think it's more because there's no way in hell Cleveland or Miami would agree to SnT away their superstars. Toronto has already come to grips with losing Bosh so they have the perspective of trying to get back the most assets in return that they can.

Miami and Cleveland on the other hand are still in denial; they would rather shoot themselves in the foot and get nothing in return than even give Wade and James the slightest belief that they could get their hometown contract in another city. If they leave, it's gonna have to be cold turkey; they'll be burning their bridges in those towns both with the management and with fans. The Heat face sucking for the next 3-4 years if Wade leaves and no stars take his spot; and hell the entire city of Cleveland might crumble to dust if Lebron leaves. Lake Erie will swallow that piece of crap town whole.

Agreed and this is why I have been screaming all along that Toronto has a significant say in where Bosh goes. Bosh was never going to walk or take a reduced salary and seeing how he has to play ball with Toronto in order to get his 6th year he is at their mercy as much as they are at his.

I'm not sure about Cleveland, but Miami is already under the cap, so if Wade walks, they're just more under the cap. They're only S&T'ing if they can get something better than what they'd get in FAs.

Aside from just wanting to be dicks to Wade.

If what Stephen @$$hole Smith says is true, I would think there would be more coverage on this story. Seems too quiet. But then again, thats been the Rockets modus operandi as of late. Maybe something is going down.

A quote from Feigen in today's chron:
"the Cavs would like to work a sign-and-trade with the Raptors for Bosh, and have some assets to do that, but Bosh has shown no interest in Cleveland"
I did ask him the following question:
"has Bosh turned down such a sign-and-trade offer and was it for the max?"
    He replied:
"He has not met with the Cavs at all. Surely they have reached out to his agent, but he has shown even less interest in the Cavaliers than in the Rockets. -- Jonathan"

I don't think Bosh cares to play in a small market like that, and not to mention in a miserable city like Cleveland.

Anytime you get 3 divas together, it always ends up 2 against 1... and she wants to go home. No DocRocket cryptogram here.

Watching that video, you really see the diff. in how Wade handles the attention, and how Bosh handles it. Bosh did not seem as comfy with TMZ running in his face asking questions as Wade.

Is it me or do all sports agents look like Crooks....

Baron Davis left GS and Elton Brand left LAC, to sign outright with the Clippers and Sixers. Can't recall if their teams were offering that extra year or even a full max salary but I always assumed they turned it down.

True, Wade handled it like a natural. Also, Bosh was just kind of ignored by those girls LOL.

It should be obvious to him that Wade is numero uno in Chicago. If Bosh wants to be the man, he'll come to the Rockets.

    Neither were full max players.

Davis signed for 5 years, $65 mil - not even that close.

Also, the Clippers didn't offer full max or the sixth year to Brand.

Yes. Additionally possible that he might not relish the thought of playing forever in the shadow of the "King" & having to genuflect to him.

What do you mean he gave us a chance to see what we can offer him? He's known all along we can offer him more through S&T than straight up contracts with Miami or Chicago.

Yep. Insert beating dead horse gif.

All this talk about us being the third, fourth option doesn't mean jack if those other teams can't facilitate a sNt with Toronto.

    Obviously?

If there is any adjective you might apply to this FA season, obvious would not be it. You've got money and human ego in this mix. Either alone can result in irrational reactions. Throw in 3 or 4 divas, 3 or 4 scheming teams, self interested agents and hangers on, the complecations of not being able to offer top dollar to everyone .... it ain't obvious.

Exactly...Bosh isnt signing a 5 year deal anywhere, he is going for that 6th year. And there really is no reason for Toronto to turn an eastern conference foe into a powerhouse. Plus, if Miami does have good assets to give up in a S&T, then the Heat will be left with very little talent around the superstars.

Toronto would be better off saving the money and having ~12 million to sign other free agents rather than trading Bosh to Chi or Mia.

Houston might not be a favorite right now, but we are in the game as much as any other team.
