The Pelicans kind of had to do that too. It sucked, but they ended up getting a fair deal for AD.

Rockets ain’t getting what they want.

None of these teams need to make a move for 1½-2 years of Harden.

Nets have KD & Kyrie + great depth
    Sixers have Simmons & Embiid
Heat coming off a Finals appearance (even if a fluke; have Butler & mixed core)
    Celtics have a young core
    Nuggets have a young core

Perkins just now on The Jump: I’ve been hearing from multiple GMs that they’re scared of trading for James Harden. They’re scared if they trade for him, he’s gonna be a bad example in the locker room.

Isn’t it two years and then a player option of like $48 mil so really three years?

James is not walking away from $48m!

That's what is killing the deals.

Having Harden for an extra year is killing deals? Teams would want him long-term. That makes no sense.

He's not going to be the same three years from now.

    Trade him for MPJ
    Or
Get Riley back on the phone and take the rumored Miami deal.

Everyone wants LeBron. Harden- not so much. I hope Harden is realizing this right now. I hope he understands that GMs think he isn’t worth much. Maybe he will realize how he is being treated in the open market. He should be angry to be valued this low. That includes every team he want to trade for. The teams he wants clearly don’t really want him very much! Houston wants him more than anyone else.

In 2022-2023, he will not be scoring leader and will not be in the MVP discussion. Just my opinion.

We should consider the possibility that the Rockets aren't getting what they want because other teams simply don't value Harden as much as we think they should. Harden's impact on a team of other star players will not be the same as it was here, where the entire offense revolved around him. He'll be really good, but not like the way he's been here.

On a championship-caliber team other than the Rockets with D'antoni, that's also true in 2020-2021. Just my opinion as well.

Then trade him for MPJ or the Miami deal and let’s move on with it
