If the Bulls wanted him, they would have signed him last season. With no training camp, no cba, who knows what left of a season if one at all, a washed up former superstar would be the last thing the Bulls would want on their roster to complicate things. I personally think there are much better options out there for free agent shooting guards. My best guess is Shannon Brown gets the nod.

This guy is gonna sign with the Bulls. Make the play-offs. Get out of the First Round. But some on this board will but an * by it and say it doesn't count because the season was short due to the Lock out. Lol

McGrady was terrible last offseason before joining the Pistons and using the talent of their medical staff. He wasn't able to jump, he's jumper was flat and his condition level was really that bad. But T-Mac from February was on another level in terms of shape.

Smith said that he has a lot of reports about T-Mac's great shape right now and he said that he is ready to roll whenever the season starts

Funny how desperate I am for pro basketball that I devour even threads like these.

Signing McGrady would be a good move for them, rather than messing too much with their roster in order to trade for a shooting guard (they don't seem to want to trade Asik, given their lack of depth behind Joakim Noah).

    That's surprising.

I fully expected him to try to sign with the Lakers. Especially once Artest gets the amnesty boot.

Has there ever been a guy fall off in talent faster than TMac? I mean he should still be in somewhat of his prime, even after microfracture surgery (Which was on a non weight bearing portion of his knee).

Is it his heart that caused the drop? That is what I think.

The Bulls are more of an up and coming team, the Lakers on the decline, Tmac would ride the pine in LA, and Kobe would tear him up for his lack of work ethic.

In Chicago, Tmac could ride DRose coat tails and still knock down jumpers off of his passes.

He would fit very well in Chicago, not so much in LA....

Somebody forgot to take his ginko biloba today:

At least T-Mac is still in the league.

But Steve had a much more severe injury than Tmac, and alcohol and possibly drugs hurt him in his chance at coming back.

Personally, it's my belief his problems were more mental than they were physical. Regardless, his decline was epic.

Stevie went from franchise player and perennial All-Star to traded for a top five player to out of the league within three years, essentially.

This would be like Dwight Howard getting traded for Kevin Love + whatever and Love being out of the league three years later.

Unfortunately, SF's decline is one of the more tragic yet underplayed NBA stories.

LOL at comparing T-Mac to Stevie Franchise.

There's a reason T-Mac is still in the league while Stevie boy is a few years away from either going to jail or have his obituary in the Houston Chron.

Wanna bet that both will be broke within 10 years?

T-Mac will live life to his fullest while Stevie boy would most likely be dead in a few years.

T-Mac got his priorities straigtened out and is one of the richest athletes in the NBA. He's still getting that Adidas money!

Lifestyle will suck them both dry as they try to maintain their lifestyle when income starts to wane.

Stevie had the talent. His numbers and resume reflect that.

DD's question had to do with stars that abruptly lost talent/ability. That certainly applies to SF. As it does to T-Mac too. The difference between the two (aside from the obvious point that Tracy in his prime was a special player), is McGrady doesn't have the drug/gambling/mental issues that plagued SF.

Id have to disagree about McGrady going broke any time soon. Im very much a TMac Hater after his exodus from Houston, but the guy did a great job of marketing himself in China and his fame their from ties to Yao could gain him a fortune in years to come if he wishes to play and market himself in the CBA. Also his Addidas contract was one of the better endorsement contracts signed by a player in previous years.

Will the guy be broke at some point, maybe, probably... but I dont think he is anywhere near the level of Steve Francis and his drug & gambling problems. Stevie has a very sad story off the court while Tmacs story is just sad on the court.

You might be right, maybe he gets to 15 years.

15 years is probably about right. If he was a real smart business man he would sign with the Shangai Sharks NOW for a 10 year deal.
