If rox want to have a chance without CP3, Harden has got to knock down his step back 3. It's gotta be like Hakeem Dream Shake. When the step back is knocking down, it leaves a bigger lane to drive and either score going to the hoop or dishing off to Capela. We've all seen it before when Harden is on fire "mixing it up."
Because they know they can just hack him when he drives without getting called, they are playing him tighter then he normally gets played so he isn't getting as much space for his step back 3. When there's no risk of a drive, you can guard the 3 ball easily.
10 years from today we will be telling the younger folks how Harden had "that look" in his eyes all day and showed why he is the MVP vs 2 former MVPS
Thing is Beard has to pass when 3 guys are in the paint. I've seen it where defense collapsing and there are wide open guys and he's not getting the calls.
True but seeing 3 guys in the paint is gonna leave open guys. Game will also depend if harden is getting calls when fouled.
Absolutely not. While I could agree that Harden is more dynamic offensively the Dream Shake was virtually unstoppable and it set up secondary moves that were equally as good (hook shot) .. Harden has the 3 pointer that moves the scoring needle more (when it's falling) how do you stop a fadeaway baseline shot that alot of times was released behind the backboard?
Much higher percentage shot with the Dreamshake. I know it's only two, but, still....Besides, Dream was fouled on a ton of those too.
Chron makes the comparison in how much people cried about Dream's moves being a 'travel' in the age before the Internet... https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...isn-t-traveling-on-his-step-back-12841154.php
Like it or not, championships matter. The ability to hit the shot to close out a high-pressure playoff game matters. For now, Dreamshake > Stepback 3. Not even close yet. Harden's story isn't complete though. We'll see.
Harden's stepback needs a name. Kareem had the sky hook. Hakeem had the dream shake. Can't just call Harden's move a "step back 3". Too generic.
See, this is my position as well. If you want it to be "iconic over time" it needs a name. It makes it HIS. Honestly, someone from Rockets marketing should take time to think about this. Get a name, circulate it. The move is Harden's version of the dream shake. And if it translates in the playoffs it will really take off.
