SO Bosh still needs to grant a Sit down with Houston .. Why are we after this guy who has shown no interest at all
and let me add that i don't hate the idea...marketing-wise it's great for Houston and the Rockets....they'll pass several cities and states on the way and i'm sure tv stations will report on it and espn/yahoo will eventually get on it as well, not to mention all of the bball fans along the way will get to see it, but the point is to leave an impression on the FA, not everyone else.... the best part of this would be the road traveled and that's what the FA won't see.
I don't understand the point of this. Are they just going to be waiting outside in the car while Morey goes in and meets the players?
This. Enjoy while it lasts, folks. We have a good, improving team, and we are adding pieces. When this whole FA things passes by, I may post what I really thinking about the whole process.
Well for God's sake hurry up! I have been asking myself this for weeks and weeks! What is what's-his-name thinking about it??
I suppose the point is to get some media exposure. But it seems gimmicky to me, and it may actually turn off free agents.
That would probably be impressive to a woman on Valentine's day, but probably not so much to a 26 year old man playing in the NBA.
You didn't hear? Vspan is in one of the trucks. They plan on showing FAs who won't be on the team. I mentioned it in the original idea thread here....do something similar to improv everywhere...get a 100 fans to wear FA's rockets jersey, while Fa is somewhere public, like a mall, get fans to slowly trickle in through various entrances, littering the mall. Eventually all meet up wherever Fa is and walk around/alongside him...the whole time ignoring him, to let him sit back and soak it in and imagine what it will be like being in houston.
Think about. The commonality among the teams that have a realistic chance of getting these superstar fa's is that they all have made trades before July 1 that gave them super cap space, to wit: Chicago, Miami, and NY. While Sign and trade is possible, that does not appear the modus operandi this season. The conclusion.... like I said, you will have to wait. lol.
Damnit....WHERE/WHEN/HOW do you sign up for something like that. That would be a totally awsome road trip. I would die to go.
yeah, especially when you have them going from FA to FA...how do you go to one and say "we want YOU" and then go to the next and say the same thing? which is why i didnt suggest that specific idea to the Rockets...it was an example of showing the difference between a unique and personal idea, driven mostly or entirely by the fans, versus the typical bigger money ideas driven by sponsors.
HAHA I like your creative thinking, however after the initial coolness factor of it wore off, which it probably would quickly, how creepy would that be for the FA. Could you envision your own army of stalkers following you around a mall trying to look inconspicuous. The FA would probably get the hell out of there ASAP while making sure that he's not being followed. However since I have nothing better I can't fault you too much.
DD, you took a lot of flack for Vspan, but I am telling you that kid had talent. Van Grumpy rode Vspan hard, maybe too hard. I think things would have turnout OK had Aldeman been his coach. Grumpy was too intolerant of rookies and too tolerant of over-the-hill veterans.
My guess is that the front office has done enough research on these guys to know who may or may not be turned off by meeting fans. Also, if a player is turned off by fans, perhaps the guy is not someone they are looking for anyway.
Unless you are just flat out against Bosh and don't like him as a player, I don't see why anyone is being critical of the Rockets fore-coming effort to go after him. What exactly do we have to lose? He's shown no interest. So what? He hasn't shown much of an interest anywhere except maybe to play with Lebron, and even with that you don't know if that is just media hype. We won't know anything until we sit down with him, so why give up now? It's not every offseason you get the chance to add a star player.
