Maybe they sent the Rowdies somewhere else first? They may not have traveled in a straight route to Clearwater.
NOTE TO CLUTCH: PLEASE - change the home page headline before 11 pm !!!!! Not feeling good vibes about a headline that says "Rockets Stand Pat." Obviously, I understand the intent and the Pat Patterson play on words. No biggie - I'm just a Karma Junkie !!!! Hope this gets to you in time. I am gun shy about starting new threads with this new wave of Whiny wannabe posters that fight over who is going to b**** first about any new thread. So I posted here. THANKS - Zcity
But why would they not be allowed to mention it then. The secrecy is about where they will end up tonight. It's silly to make them drive 20 hours for no reason.
its not a caravan for a FA but a caravan to welcome the new ROCKET. DM always has sumthing up his sleeve.. they are trading w/ the MAGIC to get our guy.......splash!!!
The league had to approve the caravan and they won't let the Rockets tell the Rowdys their destination until 11PM EST tonight. The NBA had to approve the event (NBA spokesman Tim Frank said the league would have no comment about involvement of fans or efforts to gain league approval), but will not permit the Rockets to let the group of fans know where they should go until the free agent recruiting period officially begins at 11 p.m. central time Wednesday. The plan, generated from a Morey tweet request for ideas from fans, is for Morey to travel with them to the meetings, if the group arrives in time, though fans will not take part in the actual meetings. Because the trip involves the Rockets organization, NBA rules require that Rockets symbols are removed from the trucks whenever within a 75 mile radius of any competing NBA city. Bosh is expected to be in Miami at the end of the week, a person with knowledge of his plans said. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bk/bkn/7084568.html
"Im gonna do a sneak attack and steal all the big name fa's. How can I do that you ask? Cause Im Daryl ******* Morey, b****es! I not only make magic in the bed, but I make it in the NBA too"
Here's the trip: 1.Houston (confirmed) @ 2:37 pm 6/28 ~6 hr drive 2.Hope, Arkansas (confirmed) @ 8:54 pm 6/28 ~ 3.5 hr drive 3.Rayville, Louisiana (confirmed) @12:53am 6/29 ~ 7.5 hr drive (but reports bad weather/traffic delayed them so i added 2 hrs to 5.5 hr drive time) 4.Leeds, Alabama (confirmed) @ 6:49 pm 6/29 ~8 hr drive -@5am 6/30 arrive somewhere unknown to sleep/eat (tweets about 20 hrs on road) - @10am back on the road to "secret meeting" ~1-2 hr drive 5.Clearwater, Florida (not confirmed but pretty certain based on picture evidence + travel time estimation) @ ~11:00am 6/30 -Left to "final stop" around 12:00pm No update since about whereabouts Friedman DID NOT tweet they drove 20 hours overnight or 20 hrs straight, just that they drove 20 hours that "day", but it's safe to assume he meant in the last 24 hrs, not day because it was only 5am at the time . His bio clock was probably off. So it was 3.5 hrs + 7.5 hrs + 8 hrs = 19 hrs approx, so he was refering roughly to 6/29 as the day they drove "20 hrs" the times are of course estimates since i dont know how much time was spent eating, taking pics or, talking to Martin, etc. but i think i got pretty close...driving times also estimates....
