Almost none, which is scary for the Rockets, which is why he isn't signed right now...

I read exceptionally well. Even though I have major brain fog from Lyme disease I was the only person ever to take the neurological test and get a perfect score. I was also, many years ago, the only person ever to get a perfect score on St. Thomas HS's entrance exam. My reading isn't as good as it used to be but it is still excellent.

You said a healthy D-Mo would make Capela expendable and then you added caveats like "but he's not healthy" and "Capela is playing great."

I was responding to the notion that a healthy D-Mo would make Capela expendable and I'll say again that that was an insane statement. No player could make Capela expendable, not a healthy D-Mo or anyone else. He's untouchable.

You don't write well and apparently you don't read well either. I was clearly responding to your words: "A healthy Dmo would make Capela expendable and allows us to trade him." It doesn't matter what you said after that (that D-Mo's not healthy which you can't know and that Capela is playing great) because those caveats aren't the sort that undermine your initial statement which was (I repeat) insane.

Nobody could make Capela expendable at this point. You're just wrong about that. And then you want to tell me I don't know how to read? Okay, champ. Maybe you could teach me.

I care about getting buckets and wins. But looks are good too I suppose. And btw even with DMo's "good looks" we were still "embarrassingly beaten" so maybe that's not the difference between winning and losing.

No Draymond made him work for position and DMo wasn't strong enough to hold it. Stop making excuses. DMo is not good enough to make excuses for

Today is the first day that I actually don't want D-Mo back anymore. I was up for matching pretty much any offer he could bring us and I was up for giving him what he wanted as long as the second year wasn't guaranteed. But I don't want him anymore. There is something amazing happening with our new roster and they're only getting better. And it owes itself a lot to chemistry. These guys are having fun playing together and that makes them fun to watch and it leads to W's. Chemistry is a fragile thing. To have it is great and it's not something you want to mess with once it's achieved. I'm not 100% against signing D-Mo at this point but I'm not for it. The way these guys are playing together, the last thing we need to do is add a malcontent. If D-Mo can't sign here happily and find his role in this team that is having success through a brutal early schedule while learning a new offense and a new defense, I don't want him here. If he wants to be here and will come happy to our team, fine. If he's holding a grudge I just wouldn't sign him at all. We don't need poison in our locker room. That was last year. This year is last year's opposite so far and it has everything to do with chemistry. No role player is big enough or important enough to mess with that.

Lots of conjecture in here - Dmo has never shown signs of being a malcontent, even after coming back from getting traded.

If Dmo signs, and D'Antoni wants him back, then whatever is good for the team, this team could REALLY use a tall 7 footer to help in the paint, even if it is just to stand there and be tall, and we really could use his post game as he is the only one that has a consistent one - so gonna let this play out (Like any of us have a choice anyway), and see where it leads.

I would prefer him here as it makes our team better and he is much quicker than Ryan Anderson - however if they trade his rights (can they do that?) fine by me too.

DMo got very few post shots per game in the playoffs. So yeah, when you go away from what might work and resort to a game plan that guarantees failure, you'll get embarrassingly beaten.

I'll never get why people are mad when athletes try and get money. Its just business. Personally I feel for Dmo when he sees, like we as fans see, how scrubs like Jon Leuer, Solomon Hill, etc...are getting paid $50million but again he got a very raw deal on the business side of things due to his injury and the rescinded trade. If the Rockets feel he'll be malcontent then just don't sign him. If they sign, they know he can help, especially D'Antoni. Either way, if he's not signed by the end of this week, I highly doubt he joins the team this season.

I wish I could share what I know. I can't so I'll just post what I would have if I didn't know any more than you do because this stuff is common knowledge: He is being a malcontent now and is whining about his role already and all accounts I've read just here say that's why he hasn't signed. We don't need to be in that situation again as we were with Asik after signing Howard. The chemistry is too great to have an unhappy player here. He has clearly signaled to everyone that he's unhappy and has even said he was "hurt" and "shocked." nobodyholic says he felt "betrayed" by Morey and the Rockets, which is ridiculous.

More than anything this situation reminds me more and more of Asik's poisonous presence once we had signed someone to start ahead of him. Asik had no real right to complain when he wasn't a strong enough player to be our starter, especially once we had access to Howard. D-Mo is behaving like Asik did and he seems so intensely upset over the whole thing I don't see it being patched.

I'd love to be wrong about that but with each passing day this team is learning to play together while D-Mo sits out. With each passing day, as Dekker and Capela and Harrell prove their bona fides, he is a less important addition. And if he's not going to sign happily I'd rather he just didn't sign.

I agree completely. Feel bad for Dmo to be in this situation. He's absolutely right to feel like he kind of got screwed(not really by Houston, more so by Detroit, and his own body) but he has to move on and decide whats best for his career and I think that's proving he still has some value on the court. Right now he is a risk and teams are spooked enough that not many are going to take that risk. Stein is right - Houston's offer is about the best he is going to get. Mind as well get his stats now in this high octane offense and try to find one more good contract after this one.

I wish someone would offer me 7 million for one year of work. Even if I thought I was worth more, I would rather take the 7 million instead of sitting at home and getting nothing.

He was getting outworked and out muscled by a top 3 defensive player in the NBA, which is one reason for his high turnovers. Unfortunately it's not as simple is telling a guy to go to the post cuz he has a height difference in his favor. Just think back to how hard Yao constantly had to work to get his buckets in the post, and he was 20x the player DMO is.

Anyway, I don't me to sound anti DMo. I want him on this team. I just try to keep my expectations realistic. He'll help but he's not our Savior.

PS - this takes me back to Lin/LOFs.

Yao didn't have a problem scoring in the post. He had problems receiving entry passes in the post.

DMo did just fine against the Warriors in the 2015 season. And for a guy who is legitimately skilled in the post and can dribble the ball, it really is as simple as telling him to post up a guy 6 inches shorter than him.

If anything is to blame for DMo's under performance last year, it's JBB's rotations and game plans. He was clearly catering to Harden in an effort to keep his job.

I believe that you believe that, but some others think strength, positioning, and gameplan are important. So we'll just agree to disagree.

Yes he has. Back when Asik was disgruntle his boy Dmo was too. He was very upset for not getting any playing time around that time.

His hold out and demands shows that he's being malcontent. Dude is holding out because he feels he should be a starter versus a player coming off the bench. That is not an example of a team first player.

    BMJ,

If he is mad, then maybe Morey and D'Antoni need to be the bigger men and reach out and resolve this, because it doesn't do any good to have another NBA player pissed at the Rockets - you know all of them talk.....and we do have quite a salty "Trader joe" reputation......could not hurt for us to try to be a little more personable.

Pulling the offer off the table because we can't trade him this year is not exactly saying you want him now is it?

I mean, you can't tell players they have NO RIGHT to feel some way, and even you only know one side of things.......not his.....so yeah, he is probably pissed off, but I can't help but think the team/org can make it right, and everyone can be happy - I mean DMo would THRIVE in this offense.....IMHO, he is only hurting his future earnings, but again, I am not him.

DD, d'antoni has consistently mentioned Dmo in interviews ; sometimes even unpromted. If anything he's just adding fuel to dmo's fire that he deserves a bigger contract .

Some people don't like moreys approach of treating players like assets. I feel that he is refreshingly honest and upfront with players and doesn't sugar-coat things . Remember when doc rivers stole josh smith from us because he promised him a big role ?

I think that either dmo's agent has misled him about his earning potential or Dmo has some ego issues . If he didn't want to be locked into a multi year deal then he could have taken the qualifying offer . He had an offer on the table with more than 7mil guaranteed and was probably ( did anyone confirm?) only for 2 years .

If he was outperforming his contract then he could have made up a portion of the difference in endorsements .

I don't know what's happening . I don't know if the front office even wants him now if he is going to potentially disrupt chemistry . I know he is thought of as high character but this saga reflects poorly .

And finally .... Waiting / hoping for a teammate to get injured is in poor taste .

Dude both Morey and MDA reached out to him. What in the hell are you talking about. Morey offered him a reasonable contract. MDA has expressed to Dmo and this organization that he wanted him on thisfreaking awesome team. Shoots even Harden said he wanted Dmo back.

If that's not reaching out then clearly I don't know what is.

Dude is being a spoiled brat who is caught up in his feelings because Anderson is our starting PF.

You guys might be young, but some of us old guys remember when Hakeem "Faked" an injury and almost got traded, sometimes it just takes people sitting down across the table and working something out.

Morey is a good asset manager, but there are several players that have left or been traded that had some "not so nice" comments about him and the org.

I like what Dmo could bring, and if he is signed for 1 year - then it is not much risk, you can always cut him like we did with Lawson.

Right now, there is "No offer on the table" from anyone else or the Rockets - per Stein - so he has nothing to sign anyway.
