Don't see any way Nene opts out of his last year with a lockout and new CBA coming. But I could be wrong. If he does, and if he really didn't want to be here, a S&T wouldn't be bad for the Rockets.
Nene is basically a gooder version of Carl Landry, who is like Carl Landry but only gooder. Like Landry, he uses his great quickness and strength to can finish around the basket at a very high rate. He is bigger and and gooder defensively than Landry.
Ideally... If Morey can get us Nene, Okafor, Dalembert, or any combination of the 3, that would solve a lot of problems in the front court defensively. Emeka's contract is tough to swallow, but right now, we cant go the "cheap" route and we're going to have to take back some crap salaries to get to where we wanna be.
Are you serious?? He is probably there best defensive player on the team besides Billups...he anchors the middle and he is a high energy player.Sign me up, this is just what we need! Next step is to get a SF.....IT IS WRITTEN.
Amazing, people are complaining about Nene's defense. Even if he is only slightly above average, he is miles better then anything we have, at his size. You do this move in a heartbeat and yesterday! He gives you a tough, physical attitude the team severely lacks and has the offensive game to thrive in Adelman's system. I will say this, however, I don't know how well Scola and Nene will work together. Scola really needs a Marcus Camby type to makeup for his mistakes on "D" and that is something Nene is not, good defender but not great. I am, however, excited to see what a Nene/Hayes/Patterson frontline could do.
Stein seem's to be just speculating, he didn't say "a source close to the situation" or anything of that nature.. He know's that we need a center, so he assumes that we're going to be in negotiations to trade for Nene... But nothing concrete to get to excited about, so chill people...
Seeing as how the DPE expires soon, its a pretty sure bet this would involve taking back a bad contract.
Denver would probably accept Hill, Patterson, Jeffries, and our trade exception for Nene and Harrington. Assuming we resign Nene and Brooks, our team next year would look like this: PG: Brooks/Lowry SG: Martin/Lee SF: Budinger/Williams PF: Scola/Harrington C: Nene/Miller Then maybe you trade our 2011 rookie, our 2012 draft pick, Brooks, and Miller for Chris Paul next winter?
So, yes, DM the GM chases good players. That's news. If Nugs trade him he could reasonably land here. Is that good? But, what price is Nene worth? How does his value compare to...Kaman? Varejao?
How his value compares to Kaman/Varejao? Quite simple to answer this one... Nene is playing right now and has been all year, Kaman and Varejao are not. Kaman is out for (who knows how long), and Varejao is out for the remainder of the year.
Scola is worth more than Nene because Scola can carry a team at times. Nene is worth somewhere in between Scola and Varejao.
You put these two guys on the open market and Nene is getting 13-14 million per, under this CBA. Nene is thought of as a center, rare commodity, and would be the missing piece on a number of teams. Scola is great but he is a quality PF who plays no defense.
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=4b35jy5 Next year this would give us a lineup of: PG: Felton/Lowry SG: Martin/Lee SF: Chandler/Budinger/Williams PF: Scola/Harrington C: Nene/Randolph/Miller
