They don't want long term contracts, so Lowry and Scola going over wouldn't work out.

    My trade proposal has been:

    Rockets get:

    Nene
    Harrington
    Melo

    Nuggets get:

    Yao
    Hill
    Budinger
    Jeffries
    Battier
    Knicks 1st
    Clippers 2nd
    Cash

Perhaps in a second trade take Balkman of their hands with one of the trade exceptions.

That's my proposal though. Lets the start rebuilding quick while having some assets.

    Scola vs Nene

    BPG 0.7 0.8
    RPG 8.3 7.4

Chuck vs. Nene (per 36 min)

    BPG 1.0 0.9
    RPG 9.8 8.6

Hill vs. Nene (per 36 min)

    BPG 1.5 0.9
    RPG 9.0 8.6

Tell me again how Nene is this great interior presence we've been missing. Considering his salary and the fact that he is not an upgrade of any signifigance, why in the hell would we want him.

Again his rebs are lower than they seem because Melo packs the paint and helps on rebounding. Even Billups is one of the better rebounders at the pg spot. He's an upgrade at the C spot, and would be another good two-way player on the team. 11M isn't expensive for a big man at all, esp. one who is 28 and in his prime.

I don't really think Nene is the piece we have been missing. Ironically I think Dalembert would be a really good fit if he can be extended on a less expensive contract after this season.

Look people you want taller players and forget the pushing around under the basket all these years and over the back rebounds? All of the sudden some of you have amnesia? Its not just about the numbers in those types of situations. its about the physical attributes and size to stop that. To go along with the skills to do so. Nene is what you are looking for.

Think about if they accept back Scola for this trade? Just hypothetical here. It might be even less? Lets just say Scola for Nene. Thats fair for both teams. We can say we got what we needed and they can say they got better if they also got Hill or something.

    Nene/Hayes
    Hayes/ Patterson
    Battier/Budinger
    Martin/Lee
    Lowry/Brooks

Thats good defense through size and through Chuck Hayes playing at PF his natural position who can rebound and shut down PFs. Scoring fro Nene and a better defender than Scola. Same rebounder but taller and for Chuck making us a better rebounding team with both in the lineup at once matching other teams size and bulkdown low. You get more minutes for Patterson. Battier is a good defender and Lowry. making our whole starting 5 a defensive team for once who can also score since Nene give you nearly the same amount as Scola. Scoring and defense. Just enough to make slightly above middle of the pack team until we find a way to get another guy here. Nene is the perfect center to start a Superstar with. Let alone Martin also.

wow great news  it seems as if morey is pushing hard for nene, carmelo and a bad contract and since they dont need a point guard imagine if we could flip AB and martin and fillers for say...granger! we our own big 3, maybe then next year we can get dwight howard.....pipe dream i know but its not really over the top to say we could aquire granger and melo because as of right now anything is possible

Nene is a good interior presence, but i agree with those who say he's not really a 5. I think he's a 4 that can play the 5. With Yao's future so up in the air, we could use that kind of versatility in the front court. Problem is, you can't have 20 mil locked up in two power forwards. And chuck is probably our best defensive player, so he needs time on the court. And Patterson has shown improvement with every minute he gets on the court. In short, we'd have to have a plan to move Scola. And im not so crazy about moving scola.

I'm not overly excited about Nene, but he would do. I don't want Carmelo at all anymore. We aren't going far in the playoffs if we make it at all. Let's use our assets on players who are going to stick around.

Considering this team and the fact that offense is not an issue, I would take Nene over Scola. We need a more solid defensive presence like Nene and he would be just as effective in the low post as scola. Don't want to get my hopes up but I wouldn't miss Scola at all if it netted us Nene somehow.

Nene is ok, but there are other bigs that fit better for us like McGhee or Dalembert....

BTW - Nene can opt out this year too.....

Wow a good center is about to become available, and we question his defense? Personaly I don't think there will be anyone better than him available. He is a bit above averege on DEFENSE IMO, and we slide the Chuck Waggon to his natural 4 spot. That would make us alot better on D,I think.

Nene is a center, not a power forward, and he will play center for the rest of his career. The only minutes he's going to see at power forward would possibly be spare minutes playing alongside a player that is even bigger than he is and playing against a Pao/Bynum 4-5 combination, which is going to be rare.

Sign to extension. See if he signs long term contract. He is our center of the future for along term. Who better to lock up lately than him?
