Chemistry issues? I know how to fix them. Trade for a knucklehead racking up "DNP - Coaches decision"'s and facing assault charges. That'll help!

I always wondered if the Rockets' pursuit of Markieff Morris was in part due to interest in Devin Booker (I had posted this, waaaaaaay back, probably in the Random Trade Circle Jerk thread).

But to acquire Booker would mean good-bye to players we have and like, so I won't confuse the issue.

Gotta give crash5179 a chance to calm down, anyway. ;)

Morris is better than Jones though.

If you told me we could get him for something like...Brewer and Montrezl, I'd say sure. But doubt the Suns go for that, in which case it's pretty high-risk, low-reward.

I trust Morey to not do something dumb. We'll see.

    The more things change...

Seems like a trade just to make a trade. At best it would be a lateral move.

How do the Rockets want to use him? He's a poor three point shooter, and he's a poor rebounder.

    Morris/Goodwin for Jones/KJ/Dekker OR Jones/Brewer/Draft Pick?

As bad as MM played this season, I doubt we'd offer any pick in a trade.

This is a classic buy low scenario, which is something I love. It really hasn't sinked in yet for people, but getting a player for just 8m is a steal going forward.

Morris's game brings something that we don't have on this roster which is a face up big who operates from the high post. Morris is someone who Phoenix has asked to be their offensive workhorse in the past couple of years and he has been relatively successful in that. Also, unlike TJones, who I do like, Morris is actually pretty decent at finishing around the rim.

Adding Morris is also a roster depth hedge against moving Jones or Dmo in a trade.

I am not for giving up anything of real value for Morris, but if you can get him for Brewer and a 2nd round pick, I would definitely pull the trigger.

I'd rather try to steal Patrick Patterson for Jones. Patterson is the right guy we need, smart player who can hit the three consistently.

    Finally....

Brewer can't be traded until January 15th. That means for this deal to go down now (on or after Dec. 15th) it has to involve either Ariza or Beverley or both!

Now....does it make any sense at all to trade for Markieff and lose either Ariza or Bev in that deal???

Only way it makes sense is if there are multiple other moving parts such as PJ Tucker and/or Ronnie Price coming in.

I made one up earlier in the thread. I'm still confused on the Hard cap, do we have 500k to work with? Or do we have to match dollar for dollar?

    Anyways

    In separate deals
    Corey Jefferson for Canaan TPE
    Then
KJ, TJ, Dekker and Harrell for Morris and draft pick
    Then
    John Leuer for Shved TPE

Not sure if that's is or isn't against the rules regarding the TPE's in separate deals. Its the only way I see a deal being possible if we have to match dollar for dollar. But do we have to match dollar for dollar or is there some amount of room?
