    Absolutely impossible.

The Rockets are at almost right on the hard cap and can not exceed it for any reason. None. That means they have to give up almost 8 mil to get back Markief. Nothing they could give up for Markief that costs 8 mil would be considered peanuts.

True, at this point Corey Brewer is roasted peanuts.

A minor upgrade at best, no thanks.

Not a stretch 4, not a good post scorer, not a good rebounder, not very effective on defense and owed 8 million with no team option for the next 4 seasons.

Exactly how is he an upgrade? Which part of his game exactly?

He can actually shoot and rebound.

He can space the floor better than Jones, and rebound somewhat better than him.

I'd swap him for T Jones or Brewer in a heartbeat.

He was 8th in PF DRPM. That fact that he is sneaky good on defense is his best attribute.

No he can't. He is worse than TJ at both of those.

    Career:
    Markief: 2pt% .472
    TJones: 2pt% .558

    Markief: 3pt% .325
    TJones: 3pt% 324

    Markief: RPG: 5.4
    TJones: RPG: 6.3

    Markief: Reb per 36: 7.7
    TJones: Reb per 36: 8.9

    This season
    Markief: 2pt% .390
    TJones: 2pt% .483

    Markief: 3pt% .279
    TJones: 3pt% .387

    Markief: RPG: 5.3
    TJones: RPG: 5.4

    Markief: Reb per 36: 7.3
    TJones: Reb per 36: 7.5

So tell me again how Markief can actually shoot and rebound better than TJones?

No he can't. And it's really not close this season.

And the team would be worse for that decision.

I don't see a trade that works salary wise. Jones(2.4mil) and KJ(3mil) still aren't enough for Morris(8mil) alone.

Jones ,Mcdaniels ,Dekker(1.6 mil) and the Alexy Shved trade exception(1.6mil) could work. I wish we could trade Brewer but he's a vet and I think he's going to turn his season around at some point. We have over 16 mil tied up in the SF position(Ariza 8+ Brewer's 8+). In my opinion, Markieff Morris would be a upgrade over T. Jones. His offensive game is more polished and he's a more physical rebounding power forward. I'd rather pay Keif 8 mil over the next years than paying Jones 10 mil+.

The Rockets volume of 3 point shots may create more offensive rebound opportunities for Jones. The numbers lie a bit due to Jones missing games last year and Morris DNP's(also mins. cut). OH Terrence is playing with JAMES HARDEN!.

We all knew TJ or Dmo would have to be moved. You can't keep both. What other realistic trades are out there for for TJones as your main asset?

I want Ryan Anderson too but it takes two teams to make a trade. Pelicans may not want to deal him. I think it's important to get something back for TJones. If it's not Markieff then who?

In addition, Markieff creates a lot of his own looks from isos, whereas Jones's looks are largely set up by Someone else. I'm confident that Morris would feast on the open looks that our bearded fellow would get him.

It's tough to say about Markieff Morris. This season his numbers don't impress; but then again, he was obviously forced to shut the hell up about getting traded until some sort of trade can actually be arranged. So he's likely dogging it a bit.

Maybe the Rockets are betting on his last two seasons, when his overall numbers were better, and his first two seasons, when he was actually a decent three-point shooter, percentage-wise.

Hell, maybe we have another target on the Suns and this is all some package deal. Meh. (shrug) We'll see when we see. Otherwise, this might have been just a phone call between GMs that didn't amount to much. (Although where there's smoke etc etc.)

    Um....

    I'm confused...

Look, just come out with it….

No more “this or that or the other thing….”

    Are you FOR….

    …or are you AGAINST….

    …the acquisition of Markieff Morris?

    Because if there’s anything I can’t stand….

    …it’s indecision.

Cheaper than what Jones will be making next season

    - The Rockets are currently at $88,182,285 in team payroll.
    - The apron is at $88,740,000
    - The Rockets are hard capped due to the Harrell signing and can't exceed the apron for any reason.
    - You can not combine Alexy Shved's traded player exception with other salaries in a trade. Its against the rules.
    - Jones, McDaniels and Decker combined has a salary of $7.469 million
    - Markief Morris has a salary of 8 million which would add an extra $530,717
    - The new team salary is $88,713,000 with 37,000 left, not enough to add extra bodies to the roster.

Congratulations, your trade works. Unfortunately you have added a PF that does not shoot the 3, score in the post or rebound as good as the one you traded away. You also now only have 12 players on the roster with no way to add any more without cutting someone and adding minimum wage players or making more trades.

Furthermore this new power forward who does almost nothing as well as the one you traded away is on the books and guaranteed for the next 4 seasons. No team option.

Well done. Les just fired you.
