Those are mid-range FG% stats. Markieff is at 46%. Another stat that stood out.....Markieff had the lowest assist % among those 8, which means he did more dribbling/surveying....scares me a bit given our issues with ball movement.
Is it possible that booker could be included or no? Because I'm sure the Suns aren't interested in trading him but I would be estatic if we could acquire him.
I actually like that trade. Warren is a stud. He has a 59% TS% and shoots 42% from 3. He's not a great defender so far but very few wings are in their second year. Foye is salary filler in that scenario, I assume. Dekker is a complete INC and I have little to go in evaluating him outside of college numbers. Kieff is having a career low year that screams mental issues. He's going to lose his minutes to Teletovic at this rate. This would be a buy low moment for him, and with his contract he's definitely a rotation caliber player. Jones can't seem to put it all together, either due to injuries or all the chaos around him this year. This is probably a buy low moment for him as well. Our major loss, in this scenario, is Ariza. He's starting to put it together but he had a pretty dreadful start. The bigger issue, in my mind, is that he's showing signs of decline. That alone, despite his reasonable contract, would make it prudent to get a young wing like Warren who can grow with Harden and seems to be an excellent, if low-volume, 3 point shooter. So from our perspective, I can see value in that trade. Kieff has a higher upside than Jones when his head is in the game, but that's definitely a question mark going forward. But swapping Ariza for Warren would be a great long-term gamble.
Ark a might be showing signs of decline but he's still the exact role player every championship aspiring team needs. And he's the teams best perimeter defender... On a team with basically no other good ones. Where defense remains the biggest issue. And he's on a great contract that I believe declines in value every year. Yo don't trade him unless you get back a clearly better player for this year.
I'm sure Basketballhollic/Jopat knows.... only he won't share unless you subscribe to his pay insider site.
A different player who is incredibly inconsistent and often worthless while on the court.....probably Brewer. Of course he won't have the ridiculous defense squad that Jones does making excuses all the time so it will feel different.
I agree with you on all points, which is why I would have been hesitant to trade Ariza for anyone but a superstar like LMA in the offseason. But he hasn't been as lockdown this year as he was in years past, though I think all aspects of his game are slowly rounding into form. At any rate, I think Warren has potential to be a 3 and D kind of guy; he has the tools to be an elite defender, but for whatever reason his defensive numbers have been underwhelming. His offensive game and shooting are there. The Phoenix FO is pretty high on his defensive potential. I think the reason you make this deal, if Warren really does have that potential, is that Golden State looks absolutely colossal this year, and you'd be doing it for next year or further down the road.
Yes, I do. There were two assumptions behind my logic 1) Warren looks like he has the tools to be a good wing defender, and is a knockdown shooter, though his volume has been low 2) Our work is cut out for us this season unless Curry gets hurt. This would be a move based on future potential. I may be wrong on point 1 but its very hard to gauge a wing player's ability to defend this early in their career unless you're Kawhi Leonard
