I wonder who the other player utah will include in the trade. besides hayward, favors, burks. all of utah's players salary are 3 mill and below. literally have to include multiple players just to match

That works per ESPN Trade machine.

Given that Utah is well below the cap, and so does:

Trey Burke + TBooker for Lawson + TJones....if Utah wants a Booker replacement

in the latter scenario we shed more salary, but don't get a pick for TJones.

Has Houston ever completed a trade with Utah?
I highly doubt this happens.. we are competing with Utah for a PO no way we possilbe give them a piece with puts them over the top.

    Lawson + Gobert/Favors = lethal

Didn't we deal for Glen Rice with them?

Yep, I was looking at that earlier.

It may not look as sexy on paper, but I think those two fit better on the team itself.

Why would Morey care if Utah beats us out for the #8 Seed?
If this happens, we get to KEEP our 1st rounder instead of ship it to Denver.

This trade would be close to a push in output for both teams,
but eliminate any luxury tax for Houston.

If it keeps them below the #8 seed, that's more than fine.

I doubt its Booker..we're already winning this trade as is, they'll throw in someone who sucks.

Not at all..I think he's good until after this summer..this would be a terrible time to bring someone new in. Les is going to let him finish out the KD pursuit..this yr is over with, they know that.

Utah is so far below the cap the salaries don't have to match but man getting Trey Lyles would be nice. Ty and Jones for Trey Burke and Trey Lyles. That could be good for marketing

Can we throw in Dekker? He looks like a (white) guy that would fit in Utah.

A Jazz beat writer in response to Stein, FWIW:

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">This league is so funny. In the last couple hours I've gotten a diminishing sense that a Ty Lawson deal is likely. <a href="https://t.co/4o4Zo1zXMq">https://t.co/4o4Zo1zXMq</a></p>&mdash; Andy Larsen (@andyblarsen) <a href="https://twitter.com/andyblarsen/status/700216260739485696">February 18, 2016</a></blockquote>

Why not? Morey is the worst drafter in the entire league. Let someone else draft.

It's funny to me that he seems have a knack for finding rotation-quality talent outside of the draft.
