Why the hell would he come here? We just hired Mike Dantoni, our best player does not play defense, the rest of the team is just not there. I guess its all just a prelude of things to come. James Harden is gonna walk once his contract is up.
Yeah all of them are horrible defenders. Players that shoot the 3 ball at a high percentage and can defend some are Conley, Horford, Batum, M.Williams, Beal, Bazemore, Crabbe, Dudley, Lee, Barnes and Delly Only 11 players, I might be missing a couple though.
Lol as much as it sucks you guys should be happy. No reason for us the get "Mello'd". He doesn't view us as a contender and thats fine. Neither does anyone else in the league. We need to be focused on showing harden SOMETHING because if not he's gone
You should check out How much income tax is when the numbers get over 100 mill in Oklahoma. Keep in mind it's only for 41 of his games, so if we tax half of the delta between his possibly pay on the rockets, and elsewhere, you'd be amazed at how much money he isn't really giving up. With that being said, I firmly believe KD has no interest in being a rocket. I hope I'm eating crow next season.
If CF is any indication of the fanbase as a whole, then that's absolutely what the fans deserve to have happen.
I don't know why so many of you view these two paths as mutually exclusive. Whatever small chance the Rockets have (or had, perhaps) with Durant was always conditional on that second max slot. The Rockets, as-is, are not good enough. We all understand this. If there's a scenario for the Rockets to get back in the game with Durant, it's pairing the current roster with a top FA elsewhere. Parallels could be Miami securing the commitment from Bosh to lure LeBron in 2010... or Phoenix making a strong last-second push to get Aldridge last summer after signing Tyson Chandler. If Houston gets in the door with Durant, it'll be because of a move that hasn't happened yet. So I really don't understand the Melo/Bosh comparisons... because in July 2014, the Rockets had to commit 100% of their resources toward that player(s). That is not the case this summer. Keeping the door open to Durant does not preclude moves elsewhere. In fact, it may provide even more incentive for it.
Is OKC, Sweden or Luxembourg? I didn't know that the tax is so huge to equate for dozens and dozens of millions of dollars for 41 games a season.
Looks like 5.25% That times $250 million is about $13 million. Divided by two as only half the games and it's about $6.5 million impact. More than meaningful for the average person but doesn't meaningfully cut into the fact that he's get paid way more in OKC.
Every team has holes, I think it's a bit delusional to say they're bad. They won 48 games last year, more than us. They had a top defense regardless if you think they have rim protection. You can say the same about the Rockets. No rim protection, no shooting, no real playmaking aside from Harden, got trashed by a Curry-less GSW team in the first round.
Don't forget that the Rockets also have two other teams in their own division that also play in Texas so the tax incentive is even greater.
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/1...-warriors-spurs-thunder-celtics-heat-clippers Kevin Durant and his representatives have added free-agency meetings with the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers, a league source confirmed to ESPN's Chris Broussard. The three additions join previously reported plans for face-to-face talks with the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant is also considering meeting with the New York Knicks but has no plans to talk to his hometown Washington Wizards, the source said. The Wizards were already doubtful of their chances to sign Durant, a team source told ESPN's Britt McHenry. Durant, 27, has spent his entire nine-year career with the Thunder franchise. He averaged 28.2 points per game last season and led the Thunder within one victory of the NBA Finals. NBA free agency officially begins July 1.
Thank You to KD and his camp for not giving false hope to the Rockets organization. Hopefully this will encourage DM to line up Free Agents that fit and we can actually sign.
We had no chance anyway... Let everyone else chase Durant, we need to find reliable pieces. Batum is #1 on my list.
Before this past season we would have been on that list. This season was a killer in so many ways. I think a lot of things caught up with us. Poor coaching, declining Dwight, overachieving roster, we obviously didn't do good enough homework on Lawson, none of our draft prospects have developed quickly or are really good...
I agree. But, the thing that's weird to me about that is that James Harden knew about this presumably as early as the time they spent together in AZ. Yet he was still mentioning wanting to recruit KD just a handful of days ago. I'm trying to figure out what the benefit or motivation would be for James to still be talking about it.
This dude staying in OKC lol. I guess the inside game to being Harden's best friend is telling him that he would stay in OKC and just go on his free agent tour for ****s and gigiles.
