St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Seattle, and even San Francisco, where are you at?

I think it is ludicrous to even consider trading Big Ben, but if he is on the block, he certainly better (or will be hard outing to match) than any other QB in the draft. Some may turn out to be decent QBs, but I do not see Big Ben good.

If the only thing being offered is a pick, you take that deal, while it is possibly still on the table.

San Francisco should pick him up.

    Good for the NFL.

Why isn't he a thug? Because he's white and knows how to speak English? Just because he can't be convicted in a court of law doesn't dismiss the fact that people who have looked at the evidence think there is something wrong with this man. The NFL reviewed the information available and have levied a pretty stiff punishment. The Steelers have looked at all the evidence here along with intimate knowledge of who he is for their team and apparently want him gone.

If thug=black dude who smokes too much dope and guy who can't run game=rapist, give me the thug every day of the week.

Edit: I bet the NFL regrets fixing that Superbowl against the Seahawks now!

Hell Kenyon Martin is called a thug and I don't think he has had any trouble off the court that would warrant him being called a thug.

It came from me trying to figure out why people are defending Big Ben here, saying he isn't a thug, trying to make excuses for what happened. I've listened to talk radio and the callers have been laughing off this charge.

Ben seems to be of pretty low character. I don't know what constitutes a thug in your mind, but to me, a guy who has demonstrated he doesn't put his team first in his decision making, doesn't respect women at all and thinks he has a right to have sex with whoever he wants regardless of the interest being reciprocated is a thug.

maybe i havent read the thread that well, but who is/was defending him?

Sure, some people will blow this off, especially if you are listening to the radio. Why? because they filter the few callers defending him because it's good radio! Not because that's what most people think.

Thug is a tough definition but i'd say Ben is a knucklehead more than a thug.

It was mostly a joke dude.

But if you want to get to brass tacks, I consider a thug somebody involved in violent (assault, guns, etc) crime.

And Ben's not even charged with anything, so I'm not gonna call him a thug.

I'd say rape is a violent crime.

I'd say rape/rapist is a word that requires more than your opinion (evidence, trial, conviction, and all that stuff).

The people who have looked at Ben's records pretty closely (The NFL and his own team) are pretty convinced he's not a good guy. I'm not the government or a court, I am not bound by the Constitution to allow him a trial and a conviction. Neither are the NFL or the Steelers, and they seem to think he's done something wrong.

Yes but he is tarted up!!!!

I'm still baffled that the NBA is considered a thug league and the NFL isn't.

I never said they didn't have the right to suspend him, nor do companies not have the right to drop him from sponsorships, etc. And besides, what does that have to do with this discussion?

The whole point of argument here is that you seem to take issue with me not thinking he's a thug, as if there was some racial connotation to it? I base that distinction around my own subjective definition of thug, and around the law as it relates to Ben's situation, and nothing more. End of discussion.

I'm more perturbed at the actions of his security guards then Ben himself considering they were both police officers.

Too high. Considering the talk I heard on ESPN about what people might perceive as racism if he didn't get multiple games, I wonder if being white actually hurt him.

It'll be reduced to just 4.

*I* would like for the Steelers to trade him, but I have a feeling their 'contacting other teams' is just a PR move.

/shrug... no surprises on either front.
