I'm with you; I don't want to rush to judgement so I'm going to wait until I've seen Trob play at least ONE MINUTE in a Rockets uniform. After that, I'm with the rest of these guys and the gloves come off.
I think it's still a open question for the Rockets, that being the result of a somewhat "no lose" situation. As you point out, Robinson is a far more valuable trade asset than what was given back to Sac. Just look at the reaction of other GMs around the league to the trade. He would be an ideal replacement for a team that is parting ways with a big man. OTOH, the fact that Robinson has a great motor and physical tools makes the whole situation really intriguing. If a trade does not work out, we have a high ceiling guy who might grow into a special player. He's still a very raw talent, and could potentially grow into a good fit for this system. I wouldn't expect too much in the way of showcasing him this year. The rockets might, however, be able to show enough of him to ease any doubts that he was a bust. The staff has said they want to have him focus on excelling in a limited role for now.
Trob 6'7.75 w/o shoes 6'8.75 with - 7'3.75 wingspan 35.5 max vert - weighs - 244. Pre draft measurements are legit. So no more questions about his height.
what i said is his size bothers me more than anything else. everything other posters are talking about is really not much we can discuss. how many minutes has he played in nba? he is really new to nba and rox except kings. i bet kings have a lot of his data since he played a little bit and practised a lot (i guess). i doubt kings would release all practice info to us so we can analyse it.
This is such an incredible fallacy. What happens when you take a shot? You have a 45% chance is goes in and you get 2 points, and a 15% chance it doesn't go in and you retain possession with an offensive rebound. What happens if your shot is blocked? You have a 0% chance it goes in, and a 43% chance you retain possession.
D-Mo is a legit 7-footer and T-Rob's vertical/wingspan makes up for his height. I'm not sweating it if TRob is a little smaller height wise matching up to someone like LaMarcus Aldridge.
That's not what the comparison is though. It's comparing a missed shot to a blocked shot not a shot attempt to a blocked shot.
The low assist percentage only suggests to me that they just aren't running any plays for him. He's playing as a garbageman, scoring on putbacks or breakdowns in the defense. In short, there's not a lot to learn from his half-season is Sacramento except that he wasn't so awesome as to change the Kings' whole offense.
there are some reasons kings coaches didn't use him alot and we don't know. they must see something in practice. it's really tough to understand why kings gave up on him so fast. anyway, it worth to try since all we gave up are not the core of the team. it's fine with me. sometimes you have to take a risk to get a big payback.
Also, your numbers aren't even right. According to this study 29% of missed shots are recovered by the offense. 43% of blocked shots are recovered by offense. And remember, a blocked shot counts as missed shot so "pure" missed shots have an even lower percentage of being recovered by offense. It's better to get blocked than to miss it outright.
Patterson begin to play his best ball of the season he began using the 15 to 16 footer on the pick and pop connecting at a very high right because he was wide open. Robinson could shoot that shot in Kansas and hit that shot in Sacramento at 40 percent. as long as hit's the class and runs out like he always does in transition and doesn't get stagnant on the offence end he will get pt.
D-Mo is 7'1 and T-Jones is 6'9.5 (both with shoes) Although at 6'7.75, that makes Robinson a legit 6'9, given that the average player gains 1.5 inch in height with shoes. Here's two All-Stars that measure the same height as Robinson without shoes: Kevin Love 6'7.75 David Lee 6'7.75
i know everyone here is high on d-mo. somehow, i just feel he looked awkful when he tried to do something around rim. he doesn't have smooth post moves.
That and the Kings play just about the most selfish ball in the NBA (#28 in assists per game despite being top ten in FGA per game), with a stable of shoot first PGs playing both guard spots. The leading assist man on that team? Isiah Thomas at a pathetic 3.4 apg (tied for 52nd in the NBA). So no, the low assist percentage is because no one in Sacramento is willing to share the ball.
He's 22 yrs old, not a finished product. I'm not expecting the Dream repertoire of moves, but I think he'll smooth out his post moves as years go by.
Yeah Thabeet had a decent rookie year the problem is his sophomore year sucked. So put that into perspective. The bottom line it don't mean **** and TRob could be a flop but if I had to bet I think I would go with TRob having a better career.
Normally I don't blame player troubles on teams, but I have to do so with Robinson. The guy needs to be set up to score in the NBA at this moment. But instead he plays with a bunch of guards who shoots, a center tha jacks up shots, basically an offense with no ball movement. TRob can't create. When he does, this is what happens. But I'd imagine the same wold happen to most other rookie bigs. Gotta give him the ball where he's comfortable, and I bet he starts to be much more proficient.
