In 2010, the Battier-free Grizz were ranked 75th overall (out of 122), their players' effetivness and likability were ranked 87th, ownership ranking 101, fan relation 83, stadium experience 36, affordability 65, coaching 70th.

This year, they are 9th overall, player effectivness/likability 26th, ownership 70th, fan relation 49, stadium experience 18, affordability 13th coaching 50th.

Battier has made the Grizz more likable, more affordable, better coached and, relate to the fans better. He also has made Lionel Hollins a better coach (by 20 spots) and Michael Heisley a better owner (by 31 spots), and both of them better human beings.

The Rockets have become worse, dropping from 30th to 37th overall, with decrease in player likability and other aspects. Notably, Leslie Alexander was the 38th ranked human among owners, now he's dropped to 45th.

This thread is worthless without JCDenton's graph.

The acquisition of Battier made the Grizzles better than 92 percent all sports franchises, which is a 54 percent increase in overall awesomeness:p

    LOL

The love that Battier gets on this board amazes me.

He reminds me of the Texans Kris Brown.

Great guy, below avg player, why cant fans see the team got much better after Battier was traded?

I met a guy from Memphis at the airport this past week while traveling... we talked a lot of hoops and he said getting Battier back was the best thing for the city - because Memphis is a very segregated city and due to race in politics, finding an African American role model in that city is extremely important. To this day many fans there are still bummed that they traded Battier for Gay. Crazy, huh? The guy seemed so happy to have Battier back not only for on the court, but more so for off the court presence. Given this data, his impact makes sense after talking to the gentleman from Memphis.

Battier made them better, but this doesn't take into account that Gasol and Zach made Battier look better than he is. Statistical proof is incomplete.
