I would wager that there would be a whole lot less of this type of crime (and theft in general) if people were paid a livable wage.

What wage do you have to make to get Louis Vutton and Yezzy's?
They are hitting luxury stores and jewerly and high end sneaker places

They steal cause they realize the cops won't do anything in these cities

They're reselling these things to make money.

If you want to put a cop on every corner be my guest.

Just don't b**** when the tax man comes.

Alternatively, allow concealed carry so you can legally shoot people who steal your stuff.

That also will not do anything, but if it gets you to vote for meaningful change then fine.

Although it looks like that's already been taken care of.

Thieves have less consequences than victims defending their property.

    Pretty sure
When your high end sneaker store gets robbed twice in the same week, they are people who don’t want to wear new balance shoes

definitely a small business ran by an enthusiast
    Not a big corporation

Not really. Thieves can lose their freedom and become incarcerated. They can gain a criminal record or have a worse record.

They can be shot, beaten, stabbed, injured.

Petty thieves aren't going to prison for property. They have to physically threaten or injure somebody to reach felony level. That's if they are caught, a big if.

You can't shoot a thief unless your life is threatened. You can maybe shoot a thief if it's night time.

If the thief is faster and stronger than you, you don't have any options other than calling the cops who won't respond or make a report.

Is this something you actually wish was allowed?

Unless I feel my life is threatened, then I'm not shooting someone. If someone wants to steal my computer, they'll have to fight me attempting to restrain them. If while fighting me, my life feels threatened, then I'll consider deadly force. Good thing about the vast majority of thiefs is that they take the path of least resistance. They'll give up on their target as soon as someone resists.

Actually if I have homeowners insurance, they can take my computer while I record them and report them to the cops.

I just don't have that desire to shoot someone for mere theft. It to me feels just wrong.

Well, HPD won't do **** but I'm still not killing someone over $500 or $1000 or whatever.

Resistance probably usually isn't a good idea either as it can turn a non-deadly situation into a deadly one.

I think it should be if a victim has no way to safely retrieve their property. I don't think a victim should have to risk injury or harm to engage in a fist fight with a thief, particularly if there's a big difference in physical abilities.

I've said before that I wouldn't shoot anybody over some minor property theft. I'm fortunate to be able to replace things. But for others, losing $100 might hurt more to someone living paycheck to paycheck.

Not currently possible in Biden's America.

On top of that, there is little to no help from police. When you see a businessowner's livelihood getting messed with when it is robbed over and over, you will most certainly see them start to take matters into their own hands. People are resilient and they will fight back. Robbers have to be scared of something to be deterred from robbing, either scared of getting swiftly arrested and locked up, or scared of robbing the wrong person and getting a cap in their ass.
