Money for hydrogen fuel cars? Really? That was a surprise. Was it material? I missed the $ amount.

Took a cheap shot at the HMOs which drew cheers from the Dems (he almost burst out in a grin).

I wish he would have just one speech w/o using 'Evil'.

    One meaningless sentence for Israel/Palestine.

Appears to be trying to recover some from bad press on the environment amd AIDS. $10 B/5 yrs in new funding for AIDS relief.

Can't someone tell him its 'nuclear', not 'nuculear'

I am astonished by the genuine compassion I see coming from him! I don’t think I’ve ever seen this GWB before.

If he really supports this hydrogen fuel cell-operated auto thing, I am going to have to give him major props.

No doubt; longtime overdue...did he say $1 B??

Addresses both the supposed ties to the oil cos and his stand on the environment (could play well overseas also).

He's been taking lessons from Ronald Reagan. The scary thing is he may actually believe what he's saying but just wait til it's time to act upon it.

He will do anything to remain popular.

“…against the man made evil of international terrorism.”

That’s not a bad line actually. I think it may put a different, better spin on the previous use of the word too.

He never really seemed sincere to me before, or even to understand the issues enough to be sincere about them.

RIET: Reagan always seemed like a caricature to me. You are very right, though, in that the subsequent actions have to back up the words. We’ll see, but he is really impressing me tonight.

We get all your channels. ;) But it’s also being broadcast live on our news channel. What you guys do has a fairly big impact on us, so we pay attention. ;)

I thought it was an excellent speech. Pretty effective. Nice touch on the aids thing. It was clear, but mostly wrong and disengenuousl. Weren't they just trying to block generic aids drugs just a while ago?

Nice touch on the hydrogen car thing for kids born today. In the meantime he is still pushing for large suv's. It is sort of like the proof on Iraq, danger and terrorism always in the future, environmental stuff in the future. Tax cuts for the wealthy now of course.

Still lying about the aluminum tubes. No new evidence for war.

Another threat to the UN that we will consult, but screw you. We're going anyway without our allies. They better behave themselves,, but screw them if they won't follow Dubya. This speech will probably do nothing to make our allies help us.

I heard an analyst on Fox just say the prez said seniros are going to have to get their prescription drug benefits through an HMO instead of medicare. Is that really what he said? That's going to go over like no Matlock in the nursing home. :)
