Being a Texan fan is kind of the equivalent of dating a stripper.... Its alot of fun at first, but then you realize how much BS you have to deal with.

Hey nice plug for my song!

There was nothing covert about it. Anyone who actually watched the games could see it. Out of the blue, in front of God and everybody. Freaking dobermans. Tearing his flesh and pissing on the yardmarkers.

Unless management makes decisions based on CC.net, talking about the present or future isn't going to help either. So perhaps people should just stop talking Texans entirely?

I think it's the name. The Houston Anythings would be better than the Houston Texans... more than a little redundant, IMO. Change the name, and the fortunes will change! ;)

I personally think this assertion is absurd. For YEARS, the Patriots were a JOKE of a franchise. I mean look back in their history outside of Steve Grogan in the late 70's; early 80's which netted a few playoff years and then the SBXX debacle vs the Bears. Now, they have built a mammoth franchise. The Patriots whether you like them or not, are now the model everyone else is scrambling to emulate. For a long time, people snickered at the name the Patriots. No one is snickering now.

Bottom line, you could call this franchise the Houston p*****s dress them up in pink fur and felt purple unis and if they're winning "who gives a sh*t!" It's all about the organization. Give Smitty and Kuby some time to actually fix the mess left by C & C Idiot Factory. Good God!

From villification to glorification and back again. These problems did not happen overnight. That means they probably won't be fixed overnight either. Duh!

For the record, pulling the rug on Kuby after 2 seasons would be ridiculous. Remember Marvin Lewis had 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons before they busted through a won the division.

More than likely we will still need another cutting away of "dead wood" (non-hacking veterans) to make the Texans a franchise more like a thriving forest instead of a forbidden wasteland. We will need another productive draft and some key veteran pickups to get us to contention next year.

The interception should have never standed. The cornerback only got one foot inbounds. Ref blew the call, so the Ref cost them the game?

I actually think Jeff Fisher cost them the game by punting twice from the 35 yard line when Rob Bironas can kick 52 yard field goals easily and there was no wind, but he wanted to play field position.

    OK, I made a D&D move here

I grouped the oilers and Earl, rockets and Dream, with the Texans and VY

I know VY doesn't belong in that elite company right now.

But that can't be ignored either.

The past is over, let's all get over it, forget about it, but the state of the Texans is a collection of past moves-

    Is Kubiak the real deal?
Is Schaub really going to be any better that Sage?
Is Mario > than VY plus 2 second round draft picks?
What did the coaches see in Ephraim Salaam?
Did we really think we were solid and good at RB?

I think Ric said it best, after the 2-14 season we were actually starting over as an expansion franchise, new administration and new players...

We just started with the wrong pick ;)

I obviously like VY, we obviously didn't draft him, I can't stand the Titans.

    Go Texans

    Go Schaub

I'm sticking with what we have and I'm hoping to see it turn around soon.

The Texans would be even worse with no running AND no passing game.

Hey Bobblehead, where are you when this brilliant opportunity presents itself?

Now *that* is one photochop I'd cherish the treasure of laughing my tail off at.

so now the team that everyone predicted to be at the bottom of the division is so good they can overcome a completely inept quarterback. you guys are funny

yeah, lets see what vince does without pacman. my how things change in the course of an nfl season. the titans do have an incredible defense, but just like when they went to the superbowl, jeff fisher is going to play defense and run the ball, because that's what coaches do.

i remember these same comments about mcnair the year they went to the superbowl. its de ja vu all over again. some people never learn

Many who were decrying the talent the Titans have have admitted they were wrong about that. But go ahead and paint it is them being disingenuous.

    Yours truly,
    Jack Pardee :D

McNair had a *far* better arm than Young, iirc.

but people said he would never be a viable passer, not because of his arm. vince's arm hasn't been an issue btw, its not farve like, but he does have zip on his ball.

fisher is a conservative defense first coach. so I should have made that distinction

They did?? Not disagreeing with you there; I just didn't remember that. I *loved* McNair.

The most sickening thing about these discussions to me is the whole feeling in my gut when the Oilers left comes back. McNair, Matthews, Barrow, George, etc. I *loved* that team.

The whole Adams/Mayor thing was just disgusting.

    I *still* miss the Oilers.

I don't. McNair in that season (11 games):
    2179 passing yards (6.6 average), 12 TD, 8 INT, 78.4 rating; 72 carries for 337 yards (4.7 YPC), 8 TD

Vince this season (through 6 games):
    745 passing yards (5.8 average), 3 TD, 6 INT, 66.0 rating; 39 carries for 140 yards (3.6 YPC), 1 TD

How are McNair's season in 1999 and Vince's season in 2007 even comparable?
