    To misquote Bradley Nowell:

Riots on the streets of Philadelphia.

That's their franchise player now, not gonna happen, even if you threw in T-Mac IMO...

Nah, Philly sports fans are used to disappointment and boneheaded moves. Trust me, they'd be fine.

Still doesn't mean AI^2 is ever leaving.

Fantastic job, Blathersby. My other criticism is using Wickipedia as a source. It is totally unreliable.

I like your idea, but still want to see the rockets pick up a couple of big bodies ie. Diop, Elson and maybe someone in the draft. The lack of front court size when Yao went down was really exposed this season. I think with Shaquille Oneal, Andrew Bynum, Okur and Tyson Chandler being in the west now will make adding size a priority.

I know his contract is terrible but isn't he a great 3rd scoring option. He could really take over when our 2 stars are off. I think people keep looking at the Grizzlies but i think that ship has sailed. After they dropped Pau's contract they weren't very willing to give up others. I think they're done dealing for expiring contracts you have to look to the future.

The teams who have overspent and are underperforming. I think the Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, and Knicks are much more likely to be active in trade talks than the Grizzlies, Kings, or the Raptors. Those 3 teams aren't really underperforming for their age and talent level so there really isn't a need for them to trade.

I took this information from RealGM:
    <quote>
    Pick -- Year 1 -- - - Year 2 -- - - Year 3 -- - - Year 4 -- - - Qual Offer
    1 -- $3,483,100 -- $3,744,300 -- $4,005,600 -- 26.10% -- 30.00%
    2 -- $3,116,400 -- $3,350,100 -- $3,583,800 -- 26.20% -- 30.50%
    3 -- $2,798,600 -- $3,008,500 -- $3,218,400 -- 26.40% -- 31.20%
    4 -- $2,523,200 -- $2,712,400 -- $2,901,600 -- 26.50% -- 31.90%
    5 -- $2,284,900 -- $2,456,200 -- $2,627,600 -- 26.70% -- 32.60%
    6 -- $2,075,300 -- $2,231,000 -- $2,386,600 -- 26.80% -- 33.40%
    7 -- $1,894,500 -- $2,036,600 -- $2,178,700 -- 27.00% -- 34.10%
    8 -- $1,735,600 -- $1,865,800 -- $1,996,000 -- 27.20% -- 34.80%
    9 -- $1,595,400 -- $1,715,000 -- $1,834,700 -- 27.40% -- 35.50%
    10 - $1,515,600 -- $1,629,300 -- $1,742,900 -- 27.50% 3-- 6.20% </quote>

Unless Carl Landry's agent can argue that he deserves more money then Greg Oden or Kevin Durant, he is going to be signing for somewhere around or below 3mil.

Luis Scola signed a deal starting at 2.9 this past offseason, which will increase to 3.1 and 3.4 over the next two seasons.
Considering their contributions are somewhat comparable (but Scola's being greater) this should indicate that his price will hover somewhere around 3mil.

What we also have to take into account, is that Carl was signed to a minimum contract ($427K) this past season, so his agent may be out to recoup some of what he "earned" this year. But with the difference between and minimum contract and a top 10 pick contract being a little over 1M, that recoup becomes very minimal spread over a 3-5 years (if talking about hundreds of millions can really be considered minimal).

He may be twitching because he is itching..........to pull the trigger and bring in VC. Can you imagine VC, TMac, and Yao out there? Who is gonna stop that?

No one, unless we get a high percentage of misses in the first 3 quarters and everyone you mentioned is tired as hell at the last quarter.

And I think that is very possible.

We need a backup center. And a scorer. Nuff said.

That's what i'm saying...obviously its a terrible contract and he isn't getting any younger but i think that contract runs through the course of our "win now" mode and by that time we can use him as an expiring contract later on.

IMO a really good player with a fat contract like VC's is more valuable than a decent player with an above average contract like Mike Miller. Unlike Mike Miller people will still want VC when he is old (if he isn't retired) and we would be able to net something nice for our rebuilding process.

Three players as good as that would be unstoppable.

Even though they are cousins, I recall reading somewhere that Tmac & Vince don't get along all that well. This smells like a recipe for disaster.

Studies have been done to show Wikipedia is about as reliable as any other encyclopedia when it comes to their better quality articles. That said, I don't want this to degenerate to an argument on the quality (or lack thereof) of Wikipedia.

But I defend my use of it. Its short descriptions on various CBA-related topics are extremely easy to read and understand, and it's a great source for someone to use to begin understanding the CBA. It's by no means the be-all end-all source for it; anyone truly interested in learning how Collective Bargaining Agreements work should read the actual agreement. But it WILL help make some of the terms in it make a whole lot more sense.

The problem with Wikipedia is any idiot can edit it, and some idiots are obsessed and have a lot of time on their hands.

But carry on with the thread
