The timing of all this is too fishy.

Some very powerful people are really out to bring down this administration by all means possible.

Of all the wasteful things the state department spends money on, I'm not too concerned with them getting prostitutes. Might as well. The military always provides a temporary boom to prostitues when they go out, so why shouldn't the state department?

Casual observation: any time people launch an assault on a liberal doing some good work elsewhere (Spitzer, Weiner, DSK), it happens to, very often, involve sex or drugs.

for the day that people gave a less of a s**t about personal peccadilloes and more of a s**t about what they do beside that in issues of substance.

    ^^This.

Who are the sources on all this?

Let's not forget how Congressional Repugs fed false info to a compliant ABC reporter about Benghazi emails. It's easy to get lies into the mainstream media. Happens all the time.

    http://americablog.com/2013/05/abc-jonathan-karl-benghazi-email.html

I don't know what's true or not in the OP's story (what a stunner, bob marley strikes again; where's basso to dirty-dick this s**t cocktail?) but I'm just saying, It's easy to manipulate people who don't know the truth and/or want to believe the negative.

If Obama thought the Repugs were gonna play ball now that they couldn't block a second term, well, I guess hardline ideology trumps country.

The Repugs did the same thing to the Clintons throughout his two terms. It's all they have left in their empty quiver of political ideas.

I think when the administration attacked the press then the gloves came off.

The same sort of thing happened to Clinton. He was "over-scandaled" and everyone got sick of hearing about every little mis-step. If the economy continues to do well all of these scandals will just end up hurting the repubs next year.

Exactly. Most people are not the freeper ideologues that spam this board with cut/paste jobs and can recognize the "sour grapes" approach to character assassination as practiced by the fringe right that controls the GOP.

^^ Not that. If it was a timing thing, wouldn't Obama's political enemies want to bring this stuff up before the election they were trying so hard to win? Besides which, are you saying it's all true but you're going to discount it because of the obvious political motivations of the source?

For myself, while I think it sounds like stuff that is concerning for the State Dept., I don't think it rises to the level that I, private citizen, should bother with being indignant. But, the State Dept should have better control of its people for it's own sake. Especially in the case of an ambassador, who can endanger the interests of the country by putting himself in a compromised position.

I don't think post-election means much. After all, most of the right wing was stuck in an echo chamber and never really believed Obama would win. Nate Silver was totally crazy until he was a genius.

Besides, some post-election event could have precipitated all this. Take your pick.

Good points. This is unsavory news and allegations of rape or assault should be investigated.

I'm more outraged at the wiretapping, opaque directives for tech companies to hand over private data, the targeting and intimidation of the press and whistle blowers, and the maintenance and escalation of the post 9/11 military industrial complex targeting civilians within our borders.

These are all critical fronts of a free and open society. it's not the next president you should worry about. they will all get progressively worse. guaranteed.

I like all this distraction. It might even allow something like comprehensive immigration reform to get passed. I mean probably not, but it sure helps keep the noisy people focused on relatively meaningless things.

Marley is a mindless government hater. Just another mindless attack. Fox and Friends have taught him this so Murdoch, the Kochs and friends can have their taxes rolled back.

    Their useful fool blunders on.

Fortunately Marley's simplistic ideology is dying and the public is starting to understand that tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires is not in their interest.
