They planned a season 2. But the lead actor of Spartacus is going through cancer treatment..... Gonna miss this show, especially if they never finish season 2. Hope for the very best for the guy's recovery. The show is amazing. And the SEASON finale was....EPIC.
If Spartacus doesn't make it back, I'll watch a second season without him. The tone and writing of this show is great.
Yeah he's going through treatment and actually they haven't even started shooting season 2. What they are going to do is actually create a initial 6 episode that starts before this a sorta Prequel to feed the fan base something to chew on while we wait for Spartacus gets better.
Ya, I don't know what I think of the prequel. They are pretty much just trying to keep people interested in the show. Gonna be a LONG time till another real Spartacus.
I haven't been watching this show but did catch some of the finale. That was quite the finale. It made me want to stab somebody. Hee hee.
Agree with everyone. Awesome season finale! Things got way more ruthless than I imagined. Without spoiling I can simply say the title for this episode was very appropriate.
Finale was as good as I hoped! Maybe even better! Spoiler Though I wonder how good the show will be in the next season now that all the political dynamics are gone. Those were some of the most fun parts. We've officially gone away from gladiator-style combat to potential war with Rome. Awesome.
question...just finally caught up and watched the finale...was great, but: do we know for sure that Xena is dead? they showed her hand moving in her final frame. y'all think it's certain that she's dead, or they were leaving the door open?
My wife hasn't been watching the show because it's so violent. So, of course she sits down on the couch just as the season finale carnage begins. About one minute in she's like, "This is going to give me PTSD."
i guess they never showed Medicus in the last ep, so i guess he was alive and hiding? he'll find her and fix her up maybe.
wow down right crazy i didnt think they'd actually kill some of the people that they did and in the manner that they did. crazy crazy show, i was skeptical at first but the show grew on my as the episodes went on. very raw but nothing is too out of place given the time and era it is portraying. the craziest thing was to see varo's wife killing numarious so many "holy f*** did they just do that?!" great season finale hopefully spartacus gets well and starz delivers a great season 2
She's been in several episodes after her death. Its called flashbacks. Actors still get paid for those.
We will have to just wait and see if she (Lucy Lawless) is still alive when or if the show returns for another season.
Here are some thoughts Spoiler They mentioned something about making Rome itself shake. That will give them time to develop some higher stakes political intrigue regarding Rome. Ilithyia's husband is there, and will be gunning for Spartacus, the Gladiators may seek alliances as surely there will be those opposed Illithyia's husband and family, and they may try to use political machinations to ally or betray the Gladiator/Rebels as they see fit. I don't know if that will happen, but it is a possibility.
(I don't see the point of spoiler tags at this point in this massive spoiler-filled thread.) Note how Batiatus repeatedly calls Spartacus a 'true Roman' over the course of the show, and how they make a point of Spartacus and Batiatus playing a strategy game where Spartacus is whipping Batiatus's ass repeatedly. It's all foreshadowing. Also note how they stressed the whole 'brotherhood' aspect of the gladiators during the season. I believe this will play a big part in keeping them all knit together while they're underground in the Roman empire. Well, the gladiators from Batiatus's house, anyway. Can't say what would keep the women slaves together. Drama, I guess. After the prequil episodes I can see how they can stretch the second season out if Andy Whitfield is still sick, with a big underground plotline with a few glimpses of him in the gloom every few episodes. There's gotta be some fighting, but they could do it without him at full form.
