I'd pick Alston, he can pass the ball better. MJ will be a good support off bench.

its gonna be a battle to see who starts but hopefully coach A can give us more production offensively from rafer because last year he was awful offensively. i want to see a rafer who can hit layups. mike james can score but i dont really like him leading our offense most of the time. we have players who can score much more effective then mike james

At least there's an option this year.

Who ever is putting the ball in the bucket. Both of them will be left wide open as teams pick their poison

I believe in 5 offensive players on the floor. Teams no Rafer is weak jumper shooter and will layoff him, clogging up the lane for Yao and Tmac. Think about how many times the point guard was sitting in Yao's lap deflecting passes due to Rafers lack of jumper and finishing skills.

Two things I do like about Rafer is he's cool under pressure and can handle the rock. Everything else is horrible.

My only fear with Mike James is the chip on his shoulder to prove he's a scorer

That's why you have brooks on the floor. A player that is willing to distribute or set up plays, but can shoot the rock with ease.

the problem with throwing out your 5 best offensive players on the flor is that whos going to score in the second unit

Without question rafer. For one, he's a whole lot more like Bibby. JVG, as good as he was didn't know how to use players to their talents. Rafer is not a 3 pt. shooter. He's a very solid distributor, and especially with Scola, we have enough people demanding shots. As long as rafer can drive, and play some D, he's our starter. MJ is honestly just a spark plug/ combo guard.

I would start with Rafer and end with Mike. Rafer seems to cave under pressure, especially in the fourth quarter. Mike James is more likely to finish the job right.

I'd say Rafer will start, though James may finish many games. Much like Sam Cassel/Kenny Smith back in the day.
