Neither, Rafer is a bench player making starter money and Mike is a 2 in a 1's body. If either one of these guys is our starter we will not make it past the first round...again. Maybe Rafer gets shipped off in a few days but that would take an idiot to take him unless we pay them some cash to take him off our hands.

Are you people crazy? Rafer starting? If Rafer starts, he will be left completely open and continue to jack and we will see the same crap we saw this year. I know you guys feel T-mac and Yao together is enough offense on the floor at once but it is not. If Mike James is in, maybe other teams play more honest and T-mac or Yao go one on one. Or they can leave James open and he can burn them. Do you people realize Rafer shot the third most shots on the team and darn near led the NBA in 3 point attempts but shot 37% from the floor. He is a liability when T-mac and Yao are in because he is not guarded. And this stuff about running the offense is overrated. T-mac ran our offense last year. All Rafer did was bring the ball past halfcourt and spot up for 3-point bricks. Dallas has 4 scorers (Nowitzki, Howard, Terry, and Stackhouse) and 3 start. We can start T-mac and Yao with Mike James. Why do you guys want to be punished with a season full of airballs from 3 and tear drops that make my tears drop?

You can put a point guard from high school team in Peru and he would still be a better option than Alston ;)

Believe it or not, I'd actually like to see what Rafer could do in a more open offensive system.

You need to add a 3rd option "others", i.e. Steve Francis ;)

you all have to remember that you dont even know what Adelman's offense will require for a PG. Will he want a PG who is fast, can move w/o the ball well, and shoot spot up jumpers like Bibby, or does he want a PG who can pass to T-Mac and Yao, but be totally inept at shooting and driving? if the latter is true, then it's Rafer, but if it's the first one, which i think it is, then it'll be James.

if Gundy was still the coach then i'd say Rafer, but im sure Mike James is a better fit for Adelman.

I see mike james more as a sixth man toward the team. everyone criticizez rafer for his shooting but the truth is he runs the team perfectly. i dont think mike james will start because he has a scorers mentality not pass first. maybe rafer will be better in a uptempo offense just because of the things he is great at.

man i voted rafer and the vote is tied 50 50!

i like the thought of having mike james coming off the bench for that spark so we wont completely struggle when yao/tracy are out.

I voted for Rafer because I like having Mike James as the spark off of the bench and Rafer is a little more of a pass first guard. Hopefully, Brooks will end up being better than both of them within the next year or 2.

mike james off the bench>>>>>>>>mike james starting

    and vice versa with rafer.

rafer starts, james off the bench for a 1-2 scoring punch with bonzi.

I put Rafer just because I like the idea of MJ and Head coming off the bench, thats a nice offensive spark right there. Maybe with Chuck Hayes/Mutombo too so they can just jack up 3's, let chuckie and deke get the board and kick it out for another 3. It might be the ugliest offense ever but it just might work ;)

But seriously I dont think Rafer's that bad if he's only forced to play like 20-25 minutes instead of the 35 he did last year. He won't be the third option, his shooting still sucks but I don't think he'll be asked to shoot as much. Other than that he's a pass-first, low turnover, nice handles guy. He might not be a great playmaker but he does pass better than most on this board will give him credit for, and he's the only one that i saw throw up alley-oops for t-mac.

The two guys Adelman wanted were Mike James and Aaron Brooks. That should tell you something.

Remember, this isn't JVG's system. This is Adelman's system.

But MJ dominated the ball for Toronto to put up those stats. He won't even get 50% as much touches here playing with t-mac and yao.
