i vote for lowry as starting pg, yes, he can't shoot the 3, but he is so much better defensively, and with very little practice he seems to be making some good plays in our offense
Starting Kyle Lowry is the answer. Aaron Brooks is a great player and all, but he needs to come off the bench with Von Wafer. Kyle Lowry has the IQ of a veteran player, he knows what he's doing. I cannot say the same for Aaron Brooks.
I've been always saying this, It doesn't really matter who starts. It is important who finishes and how many minutes he plays. Brooks may start, I don't have problem with that. The thing is, Lowry is playing MUCH better right now, so give him MORE minutes. He has earned it. I'd say around 25 a game.
The irony is that Brooks is playing better as a facilitator and Lowry as a scorer..... Very strange. DD
The way I see it is we don't have a problem if there isn't anybody better out there to be had. Seriously who can we get through trade or free agency to go against the Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Brandon Roy, D'Wade, Steve Nash, Devin Harris, Mo Williams.. Yes folks there are alot of damn good Pg's in the league. Don't you think that if a team has a PG that can match up with these guys they would trade to us or not resign? Our best bet is what we have unless for some cosmic reason some top tier PG wants to sign with us.. We don't have a problem because we can't get anybody out there.
I don't know, I haven't been watching games this week. All I saw were boxscores. But I know one thing, Lowry is playing better. Maybe Brooks isn't ready for the starting role YET. But that will come.
Jerome Solomon at the Chronicle had said that the Rockets did try to pry Steve Nash from the ailing Suns near the trade deadline, but the Suns wanted none of it. I'm sure the Rockets tried for a better option than Lowry, but I don't think Lowry is much of a downgrade (if at all) to Rafer anyway. Rafer really wasn't going to take us anywhere special and the Rockets seized an opportunity to secure a potential star PG for the future.
Free throws lost the game plain and simple. Von didn't have a good game either. We did play good comming off a back to back. Guards are going to be fine.
kenny smith was the starting point guard on our two title runs. sam cassell came off the bench. and neither aaron brooks nor kyle lowry is a sam cassell.
Honestly, I really don't see where the Lowry love comes from. The kid is very good but the problems we have with Aaron Brooks will just double over with Kyle Lowry. Both of these guys are pretty small so when they go up against larger, more talented or experienced PGs, they will get dominated. Lowry may play better defense then Brooks but as the Chicago game showed, it isn't THAT much better. So far Lowry has shown to make better shot choices but this is only from a limited sample of his body of work. He hasn't even been in this offense for a month, handing him the keys would be as of a gamble as taking Scola out for Landry.
I see yall have founf another whipping boy. Open your effin eyes!!!!!!! Williams is top 3pg and he kills Paul everytimg they play. Does that mean pg is the hornets problem? How about getting rebounds? How about playing defense? How about getting something out of #31.
I think we should continue to start Brooks because he sets a good tone...but equally split his minutes with lowry...I dont' think it'll blow up the chemistry doing this since both players are kinda similar except lowry attacks better and protects the ball better...better defender as well
The Rockets needed to be stronger on the boards, yes -- though they've been a good rebounding team in general over the course of the season. The Jazz have always been the best rebounding team in the league, particularly at home, so just as you say that Williams kills Paul every time we could also say that they routinely kill other teams on the boards. I mean, in the playoffs last year the Lakers didn't outrebound the Jazz in a single game. For the series, the Jazz got 45.2 rpg and the Lakers 37. That's the Jazz's strength. Now, what Paul does against the Jazz and what Aaron did are totally different. Brooks went 3-8 from the field in the game, and only 0-3 after the opening quarter. Yes, it's understandable that Brooks would struggle guarding Deron Williams. Every PG does. But on offense, he should be able to exploit his quickness against Williams. He did not do that. Again, this goes back to matching our expectations with player's roles. Brooks is now a primary playmaker on the team as our starting PG. The team wants and needs him to be aggressive. He's supposed to be a scorer. If he's not doing that, then he's not helping.
Rip or Billups? No. Those guys are staying put. Baron Davis? The Paper Clips are looking to get out from under contracts. I don't know if Baron Davis is an answer, if he'd snap out of the funk he's been under since Elton Brand/David Falk prison-raped him last summer. The Clips would probably look to move Kaman with Davis rather than Camby. But I guarantee if you offered TMac's expiring + Aaron (and maybe a sweetener somewhere), you'd get Baron and Kaman (who would have to go to a third team). It COULD be done. The question is, SHOULD it?
If Baron Davis continues to injury himself month in and month out you´ll get him straight up for McGrady expiring, and the Rockets will be idiotic to land him. The answer to our prayers is Jose Calderon, and the Raptors will for sure be in rebuilding mode after this season, and need space to keep Bosh, that´s where we have to point our guns. If not, i´ve always wanted the Rox to bring Prigioni from spain (Tau ceramica) but it is not happening, he will be a Scola as a PG. Great effort, good passer, when Calderon was in the Spanish league, Prigioni almost doubled him in assists and in steals.
Durvasa, all I'm saying is I watch hornets v jazz everytime they play and I record them. Williams kills paul every time they play. If you go look up his worse shooting, assist, and team games, its against Utah. No matter where the game is played, Williams dominates paul on both ends of the court. I do agree Brooks needs to stay aggressive, but 3-8 in 26 mins is about right. Lowry came in and went to the hole and was getting fouls, but that was also when Yao was on the bench. If Brooks did that all the time, we know how many threads would pop up about him shooting too much. Brooks is a work in progress which the Rockets knew and I'm cool with. I think a lot of fans continue to misuderstand player growth. Brooks will be a better player next year than this year and that's cool. Lowry is probably in the same boat.
AB is capable of starting but at this point of the year with only 3 games in front of the 8th seed, lowry would help us out better!
