hayes giving us 7-10 rebounds is worth much more than 6 points from a couple of 3's.

not to mention the steals and lose balls and one-on-one post defense.

I think Hayes has earned it at this point. His defense, rebounds and overall contributions are a plus. They are a bigger plus than Bowen's ever were.

He is lacking on offense, but he puts himself in the positions he needs to be to clean up junk, and get easy baskets off of good cuts. He has missed some gimme's early on, but that won't be the case for long.

JVG was quoted before the season opener that

    1. his starters would be Alston, Snyder, McGrady, Battier, Yao;
    2. his backup center would be by committee; and
    3. his rotation players would be Head and Novak.

Well, Novak played only 9 minutes the first game. And he changed his starting lineup after only 1 game. Kinda tells you that JVG hasn't make up his mind yet.

i like him starting. he has some faults but i think they'll eventually be fixed (i.e. fouling, blowing easy shots, etc.). i love his energy and have loved the way the rockets have been starting the 1st quarter the past two games. go chuck!

7-10 rebounds is our whole expectation at that spot?

Nevermind the types of players that play that spot in western conference.

That is simply not enough IMO.

Hayes needs to do MORE than he is or he is NOT adequate.

It just doesn't make sense that so many people keep saying is when obviously everything shows he isn't.

I have nothing against Hayes, I think he's actually a great backup PF to have, but he's going to have to do WAY more than he has been for this team to succeed with him as the PF.

Looks like Hayes is playing a little better, at least in the first half.

Really liked his activity in the first quarter. Rockets were +11 with Hayes in the first half. He did screw up a couple times in help defense, uncharacteristically.

Let's see if he can continue it in the second half.

I said it elsewhere but I'm saying it again: for a guy with neither height nor talent Hayes is certainly effective!

Followed shortly by a strip. Chuck, by himself, has forced at least 5 turnovers in this game.

Hayes pimped it out there tonight on the rebounds and making his easy FG's!

    Are you even a fan?

I never said I didn't like Hayes, I said he needed to bring way more than he was.

This game he brought it, I would certainly be fine with him starting with play like tonight.

THIS is what I expected from him with big minutes, hw now has 1 game where he showed up citing the fan boy geek stats where previous games those stats were hollow.

Believe me this is what I AM talking about from hayes. This is basically how he should have been playing.

Maybe he was in a slump.

But a real fan does not pick and choose players based on bias then hope one player fails or another succeeds.

Don't dare lump me in with the 90 percent of this board that does that.

Hayes starting/off the bench, whatever. Just glad the Rockets got him on the team. If there's an upgrade over Hayes in the starting lineup then fine, he'll still be valuable and super efficient off the bench. They should have started him more last year so he coulda come into this season more adapted instead of being thrown out there adjusting on the fly but whatever now. 12 pts 11 boards in 25 minutes I'll surely take
