Smeg, I'm full of envy! ;)

What sort of fish is that in the 3rd post, 3rd picture at the top, the big one? Is it a hatchet fish?

Smeg, seeing your planted tank makes me want to put a bunch in mine! Right now I only have a piece of wood and some rocks I got from the lake. I'll post a pic later if I remember.

Having fish always helps an aquarium. ;)

    Smeg,

Have you thought about putting a background on the tank? I wonder if it would look even better. Maybe not.

    Couple of Questions

    1. Anyone have any experience with having the lids off on their tanks....... the plants to need to expand and i have the pendent lights so it is perfect, just wondering if i should raise the heaters temp a fraction to compensate

    2. Anyone have any experience with CO2, stupid question at the moment i have a air pump with a couple of air stone things... aside from look which is why i have them i don't need them for 02 do i with the amount of plants i have right....

    3. CO2 what do i need to know, think i should try soonish to take my plants to the next level... anything to be careful of... and does it do anything to other components of my water chemistry???

I can't help you with the CO2 questions, although some of those plants might prefer soft water. The water in the Amazon is soft, but I honestly can't remember how big a deal that is. What I can tell you is that you will lose some fish, maybe not many, but a least a couple, from tha buggers jumping out. I would worry a little about that. As for the temp, just keep an eye on it, and if you notice much of a difference, you can always bump it a bit either way. I think they'll just run a little more to compensate, so you probably won't have to do anything. But you may need to add a little water more often than you're used to doing.

The tank looks fantastic, Smeg. :)

    deck - thanks

have a plant that is floating on the top Cardamine (see below), it covers a big chunk of area, you can't see it too well in the pics, but hopefully that will stop most of the jumpers, might try it over a weekend when i am and take it from there
