This, of course, is a ridiculous suggestion . Mobley starts, obviously. Teamwise combinations; I want to see alot of Francis, Mobley, Griffin, Taylor, Thomas, and Ming with a sprinkle of Nashbar, Maddux, et. al.
Why? Please state your reasons.... I am still waiting for some constructive discussion about why Cat should goto the bench and we play an unproven rookie in his place. With Ming replacing Cato, ( which I am not saying should happen unless Ming outplays Cato) that is most likely an upgrade. Replacing Cat ( and his 20+ PPG ) with an unproved rookie seems a bit dicey at best, at worst the coach should be fired for that lineup change.
If the board is so "generic", it wouldn't be popular, and you don't have to post here you know. We get fans from other teams on here all the time (The Bulls, Warriors, Pacers, Magic, Sonics, Lakers, Blazers, Kings, etc.), so please lose the "I'm an adult and you Rockets fans on a Rockets board are children" attitude. It's annoying. This board was doing fine for years until we started getting people like you calling us "homers" (Rockets fans on a Rockets BBS? NO! Get out of here!), calling us "children", and then of course agreeing with the troll. The difference between Nachbar and Ming is that Nachbar seems to be more physically mature for his position (which is SF), then Ming is for his position when it comes to the NBA. If he was the player that some seem to think he is, he had an oppurtunity to show what caliber player he was when Steve was out and we went on the 15 game losing streak. He was our leader at that point, but leaders and good overall players, player who you build the foundation of your team around will find away to win a game. I wouldnt be so critical if it was like 8 games. I hear the excuse that we had all the injurys during that period (which we did) But if you are the man, step up and be the man and lead your team to victory get them out of their slump. If I remember correctly it wasnt til' Steve came back that we broke the streak. I am critical of Steve too, but I do feel like he has the game to take over and dominate to where an opponet will build their defensive game plan around stopping him. Cutino seems to think he has it like that but I can only see a mediocre player in him.....

We were missing Francis 20+ppg MoT 14+ppg Rice 8+ppg Thats 42 ppg we did not have available. Cat's average is 20+ ppg. Now by your requirement that Cat step up and win the game, Cat would have had to score 42 point more than his average to be considered a good player ( not mediocre). Lets see, that would mean Cat would have had to average 62 ppg so we could have won. Seems that your bar for success is set a bit high. The Lakers stayed afloat during Shaq's time on the DL last year but Kobe did not average more than he normally averages. Kobe did score 50 in a game last year but Shaq was in ther game for that one. I guess Kobe is just mediocre as well as Cat. Now I am not equating Cat's ability to Kobe's but it shows the fallacy of your argument. Cat did the best he could and had virtually NO help during that losing streak. I think the losing streak shows more about the value of Steve to this team than the value of Cat.
No Im not Kobe8. Im a rocket fan... The truth is Cuttino is good, but you guys really make him seem like hes unstoppable, hes the best. Cuttino really needs help on his defense and his team work. He makes crazy plays that everyone here knows he shouldnt be making. He needs to pass the ball better, and quit playing around like hes on a rucker park team. I bet if Francis and Mobley werent such great friends, Rockets would of traded Cuttino. Cuttino is a great scorer.. but hes nothin to what some people here make him seem to be. people have opinions... thats my opinion on Cuttino. Other players I like alot, Griffin is my favorite rocket because of his hustle and skills he has. You dont need to bash someone if they dont agree with the stuff you say.

No sir I cant respect your argument on this one, because everyone knows that when someone is injured the next man in line is supposed to step in and fill that spot, of those players that were missing non of them were our impact players. Non of them were 20per game players except for Steve. You cant base your argument on them being out so he has to score their points. Now if the rockets had on three players on the court physically then what you are implying would be valid, but the backups to Mo Taylor and Rice for those 15 games were capable of putting up 10 apiece. My bar of success for him is not high at all. Your argument is totally ridicoulous, the opponet has the same amount of players as we did during that spirt and their were teams that talent wise still couldnt compare to what we had on the court, but we still lost. Now did he feel like, the folks filing in were capable of putting up the numbers that Rice and MoTaylor would? I dont know, do I think our backups are capable of putting them up? Honestly yes given the oppurtunity I think so. My point is you cant say because we were missing players he had to compensate for the point's they put up, that is disrespecting our bench and backup players, and I think we all agree our bench is respectable...
Wally Szczerbiak, Michael Finley, and Allan Houston too... they're all in about the same class. If anything, Mobley is better than those three. It's been said that Mobley's better than those 3 SG's listed. Here's the stats for the 2002 season (playoffs not included): Height PPG FG% Rebs/G Assist/G stls. Houston 6'6" 20.4 44% 3.3 2.5 0.7 Szerbiak 6'7" 20.5 48% 7.0 2.0 0.7 Finley 6'7" 20.6 46% 5.2 3.3 0.9 Mobley 6'4" 21.7 44% 4.1 2.5 1.5 As you can see, they're all pretty even. Those stats show that the best would be Szerbiak (quite a bit higher FG% and a better rebounder than the rest of the pack). With that said, for what we pay Mobley, he's EASILY the steal of the pack ($-wise). He's just beginning to come into his own and has a MUCH higher upside that anyone above except Szerbiak.
