landry deserves a shot to be a starter, he has been playing out his mind, if we had gone to him more last night, i don't know if we would have won the game, but it would have been closer.
He has been playing great, but IMO he serves better as a spark off the bench. Scola hasn't been playing bad, but teams are prepared for him better since we have no Yao or tmac. Give him more games and see how he does, as teams start to adjust to landry defensively. It's much easier to score on an opponent when they aren't sending defenders to trap you.
It seems like Adelman goes away from Landry for long stretches. We will see Landry come off the bench and drop 14 points in the second quarter only to sit on the bench until 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Makes no sense.
he doesn't rebound well enough and doesn't defend well enough...those weaknesses are only going to be more evident the more minutes he gets.
There is a reason he's not starting. He gets into foul trouble too early & too often. Plus he's not a great defender.
Scola's rebounding would be missed against the bigger starting lineups. But I do think, in the early going, Landry has shown Adelman to be correct -- he is our best player on the post.
Hmm so we got a Lowry over Brooks thread, a Battriza thead, and now Landry over Scola. Who's next? Knee jerk reactions to a bad loss to Dallas or legitimate concerns?
this perplexed me in the Lakers game. he was playing well, then adelman went away from him for most of the 4th. i think that we would have probably won Landry got more minutes in the 4th. It does not make sense to sit a player that is on fire for long stretches.
rebounding.defense. Basketball isn't only offense. You can't assume a different outcome because you'd score more....because you'd be giving up more..
Landry is a better player in my opinion. But I dont think he needs to start. 1.He has a better jumper 2.Quicker, More athletic 3.Stronger, better scorer The thing is we dont need him to start just like we dont need Lowry or Budinger to start...These three are the xfactor for the rockets and they will be the reason we win games or lose games. Are bench has to beat the other teams bench to win the game. SLAB
Landry is quicker, more athletic -- but its in bursts. He doesn't maintain his concentration for a stretch of full possessions very well. As a result, he tends to be not totally into it on defense, and he doesn't go after rebounds as he once did as an enthusiastic rookie who was trying to prove himself.
There is no excuse for Landry not to get 30 minutes each game. He has finished strong on his offensive rebounds this season and his deffense looks no better or no worse than Scola. Compared to last year, Landry's game is much more polished especially on the offensive rebounds.
Why were they posting David Andersen so much when they should have been going to landry late in the game? I don't know about starting just yet but it's great to see this consistency now from Landry.
Last year: 1.8 off reb this year: 2.1 off reb he's actually had 5 games this season of 2 or less off rebounds...his avg was inflated by one game of 5, and that was against the poorest frontcourt we've faced , OKC. Part of defending the basket is getting rebounds so the other team doesn't have second chance opportunities.
Our offense just looked out of sync starting the second half. It was a lot of 1on1 instead of moving the ball around. Tough game to watch. We just have to stick to what we are good at instead of trying to beat everyone off the dribble.
were you watching the game last night? Dirk made Scola look like a noob out there...Dirk had his way with Scola last night. It was painful to watch a slow motion player Dirk Nowitzki blow by Scola on numerous occasions. SLAB
